Colin Little has passed another Alty milestone...
« on: April 10, 2009, 04:39:31 PM »

I've just realised that Colin Little is now the all-time top goalscorer for Alty at this level of Non League Football (i.e. league goals scored in the Alliance Premier League; Gola League; GMVC; Nationwide Conference and Blue Square Premier).

Colin's current tally is 64 goals, comprised as follows:

2005/06: 17

2006/07: 12

2007/08: 21

2008/09 (as at 10th April 2009): 14.

The previous top goalscorer was the great Graham Bennett with 62 goals, so Colin actually overtook Benno when he scored his second goal against Forest Green Rovers on 21st March 2009.

Hats off to him for this achievement....and may there be many more from him.

And a couple more statistics:

It s now almost certain that Colin Little will equal Jackie Swindells post war record of being leading scorer for 5 seasons on the trot.

And Chris Senior scored our 250th FA trophy goal in the Southport game.

I did read once that Alty (at some point at least) had won more games than any other team in the FA Trophy. Is/was this true?

I would say it would be unlikey before 1978 and after 1987.

We were woeful in the early years of the trophy when Scarborough seemed to get to Wembley every year and haven't done much in the last 20 or so years.  I suspect woking can lay claim to most wins during the 90's.

So only in our golden period of 78 -87 could we possiobly be contenders.
