Rumours of me being my boss are entirely unfounded - but this is about to do the rounds at work.  ;D

Let's all hope it leads to a (obviously well deserved) promotion then! 🙄 😊😊

For Wilmslow Alty and the club.

Scarborough at home. This was just before the Orient game, I recall tickets for that tie going on sale at the scabby game. I did buy a Robins Review at all games back then, but I have never been a collector of things so they will have been binned within days. Somebody out there can probably pinpoint the exact date, and therefore how many days I have borne the fortunes and flops of Alty!

Edit 1.
Blimey, it was Boxing Day 1979! Taken from When we were Kings.

On a wet and windy afternoon, the wretched weather conditions steadily took their toll and the second half gradually died as a spectacle for the crowd of 2,521, which represented Alty’s largest home attendance of the season to date. As the match petered out, queues began to form at the various outlets within Moss Lane where tickets for the forthcoming FA Cup Third Round tie versus Orient were scheduled to go on sale directly after the final whistle of this Boxing Day fixture.

Edit 2.

16087 days.  I really must have better things to do...

Go past the ground (stadium on your left) over the little bridge about 500 yards further on and park down the hill.

Park on the left and fold your mirrors in. Free.

BTW I get this when I come on here. Is there a problem yours or my end?

Never had that myself.

Cheers for now.

I am not sure you are allowed to  switch ties and give up home advantage just to generate more income

Purely suggested to ensure that the demand for tickets from the people of Trafford wanting to witness a rare meeting between the two top teams in the Borough could be met.

The police would back that too .

I went to the game on Saturday with John Timmons who was a striker for Alty 86-88 ish. He hadn't been to an Alty game for some 30 years and he kept saying how much the game had changed since his day and how impressed he was with the standard of skill and fitness plus how much both teams actually passed the ball rather than lump it from one end of the field to another.

Bald fella, think he was a postman. Didn't we sign him from Macclesfield?

Liked watching him play.

How is he?

I suppose it's too much to hope for a repeat scoreline of the game in February 1980 when we did them 7-0......

Ah yes. That was cracking.

I too sense a growing rivalry, but unlike macclescum I have never had any bother, seen any bother from HTFC. These days we can get a different picture by checking their fan you tube vids & I find those funny and honest. I love Alty but have nowt against Halifax.

Weather forecast for Monday much improved. Still a fair amount of rain over the weekend. Fingers crossed.

Saw a photo of pitch yesterday and all looked good, but forecast seems to be changing every hr for the next few days, currently heavy rain planned all day now, and some rain all the way through to Monday on met office. So have absolutely no idea how this one will pan out, it's basically been raining for the last month bar a day or two.

Don't you mean baa a day or two?

😉

Their pitch looked like it had plenty of standing water on it, in the far corner from our seats. Won't take much more rain and it'll be Dino Zoff.

When did it have standing water on it?

The trophy game. From where we were there was a lot of shiny glinty reflections as if coming off water.

We prob had even worse weather leading into Rochdale game last week, and it held up remarkably welll. Suprisingly for us, the pitch has been ok so far this season.

Promising then. Ta.

Any Alty fans will want to avoid seats along the side and back of the stand. Papped with pigeon sh*te.

If PP can get us into the FL, and it feels like it's achievable for the first time since like 1979/80 (admittedly probably not this season), then he will become an iconic manager. If I was him, biased as I am, that would be my short/medium term focus as a young manager. Going to Salford, it's hard to see such a good story.

A very good summary.

For anyone who is still intrigued by this (as I evidently am), he has updated his LinkedIn to say "Open to Work - New Opportunities Welcome". So I assume that scuppers the idea that he left for another job.

Ooooh. That is intriguing.

He rejected Notts. County, Salford would have to put a very tempting reward package together to tempt him. I can't see him leaving us to join them.
