Enquiries re Derby Day Visit
« on: December 08, 2008, 10:28:08 PM »

I come in Peace (honest!)
Just trying (on an entirely-amateur basis, I must add ;) ) to compile an away day article to go in the Vics programme to encourage people to attend the New Year`s Day fixture. To this end, please respond -in printable terms - to the following questions:
1) Will Rocky Robin be there to greet (our mascot) Tricky, following his stray off his territory?
2) I know the matchat your place `ll be on Setanta, but will GMR or Imagine cover either seasonal derby at all?
3) What`s your run-out theme (musically-speaking)?
4) What will the attendance be (taking account of the fact it`s on Setanta)?
5) What system and formation do you normally operate at home? (Please reveal all in the safe knowledge that we`ll have only 8 players on the pitch come ¼ to 5.
6) Is the old Alty town centre suffering a bit of a down-turn in trade- possibly as a result of the Trafford Centre and TESCO Extra- sincerely hope not as a supporter of local shops/ `diversity`, but that was my impression/ suspicion last Thursday (OK, twa a weekday) on visiting the town. One local trader blamed the traffic wardens/ parking. I have emailed Trafford on all these points over 24 hrs ago- hope they reply in time- especially because the parking notices don`t seem to mention Bank Holidays.
7) Which take-away`s will be open on New Year`s Day?
8) How many points do you think you`ll get from the derby double-header?
9) How many fans will you bring to the Victoria Stadium?- Can gladly put some pub details on here if you wish
10) Is fodder at the ground still to be recommended?
Thanks for your input. Now what happened to those stars ???

1) Will Rocky Robin be there to greet (our mascot) Tricky, following his stray off his territory?

Yes he will smash his face in as well, Rocky is a hard nut.

2) I know the matchat your place `ll be on Setanta, but will GMR or Imagine cover either seasonal derby at all?

Who cares get to the game instead, posting this wont help the attendance.

3) What`s your run-out theme (musically-speaking)?

We all piss in a green and white pot.

4) What will the attendance be (taking account of the fact it`s on Setanta)?

2100

5) What system and formation do you normally operate at home? (Please reveal all in the safe knowledge that we`ll have only 8 players on the pitch come ¼ to 5.

11 defenders

6) Is the old Alty town centre suffering a bit of a down-turn in trade- possibly as a result of the Trafford Centre and TESCO Extra- sincerely hope not as a supporter of local shops/ `diversity`, but that was my impression/ suspicion last Thursday (OK, twa a weekday) on visiting the town. Are you on drugs?

7) Which take-away`s will be open on New Year`s Day?

Chinese?

Cool How many points do you think you`ll get from the derby double-header?

6

9) How many fans will you bring to the Victoria Stadium?- Can gladly put some pub details on here if you wish

More than you will have as home fans, probably 450.

10) Is fodder at the ground still to be recommended?

Chips are great I believe, oh sorry chips are off but we do have 2 stoppers.

SORRY FOR THE DISRESPECT BUT I DID GIGGLE A LITTLE TO MYSELF.

Hopefully someone can be a little more generous and give you sensible answers, no offence intended I am just a little bored waitig for the wife to drop our 2nd child.

Quite taken aback- seriously- until the proviso.
Have in the past sent twice as many questions and yet had four lots of full responses from the likes of Burton, Cambridge and Oxford  not to mention Rushden- even a couple of sets of full replies from Lewes and Eastbourne.

1) Will Rocky Robin be there to greet (our mascot) Tricky, following his stray off his territory?

I believe that he may well

2) I know the matchat your place `ll be on Setanta, but will GMR or Imagine cover either seasonal derby at all?

As there is no other footy on New Years Day I suspect that GMR may well

3) What`s your run-out theme (musically-speaking)?

Fanfare for the Common Man (ELP Version not original Orchestral)

4) What will the attendance be (taking account of the fact it`s on Setanta)?

Depends how many you bring but I suspect somewhere between 1500 - 2000

5) What system and formation do you normally operate at home? (Please reveal all in the safe knowledge that we`ll have only 8 players on the pitch come ¼ to 5.

Depends on available manpower - not being obtuse or awkward but you'll understand the potential buggeration caused by an injury or suspension when you only have a small available squad of players (for whatever reason)

Partly because of Trafford Centre and partly because the current administration want Altrincham to be like part of London hence all the bollocks redevelopment and exorbitant trips down south for Councillors

7) Which take-away`s will be open on New Year`s Day?

I'd have thought the Chinese opposite the ground, maybe the Pizza place(s) in Town

8) How many points do you think you`ll get from the derby double-header?

Like you we would hope 6 - I'd be content with 4

9) How many fans will you bring to the Victoria Stadium?- Can gladly put some pub details on here if you wish

Noon KO on Boxing Day complicates things so sorry not a clue.

10) Is fodder at the ground still to be recommended?

Yes - mainly

Thanks for your input. Now what happened to those stars

Sorry could you expand on the question - maybe via pm?

???

I was going to reply but couldn't be arsed taking half a day off to complete all the questions.

What more encouragement do you need?

Its a derby, there will be a great atmosphere, the snack bar serves quailty pies, you can be back home at 5:15.  And you can might even get on the tele.

Hows that?

Taking into account the match is on setanta i'd say that will at least half the crowd. Be lucky if we get 900!

The crowd will be 1,258. Altrincham will win 2-1.

Nothing else matters.

I would be surprised if the Setanta coverage hits the gate that hard, old rivalries and so on should pull the one or two game a season types out and Vics should still bring a few. I'd hope for any win, achieved in any way, foul or fair  ;)

Gate between 1600-2000.

Cheers chaps & chapesses, especially AltyTunnelSteward.
I don`t live in Northwich, but I could imagine 350 might be relaistic as an est. of our away following given the dodgy state of the club/ ever-changing team.
No more answers required, ta muchly.
