Thoughts? If it was us I'd be very embarrassed if we didn't let Braintree walk a goal in. Cue Figgy on professionalism.
-
Very bad form that
-
I've said elsewhere, bower and boshell should be ashamed of themselves.
If I was Braintree manager I would have took my players off when it became apparent they weren't going to let them walk a goal in. It's the sad cut and and thrust way this and every other league works these days, and if they stay up by a point
they won't lose any sleep over it. To quote my good friend Captain John Mason of Her Majesty's SAS (ret) "losers always whine about their best; winners go home and f**k the prom queen"
-
The cut and trust of this and other Leauges who else has done it in recent years
-
Your right every instance I can think of has seen them let the opposition score a goal apart from Arsenal v hull which Arsenal then offered to replay. I wonder if Braintree are safely housed in the playoffs on the last day and we can leapfrog Guiseley we should remind them
-
I can see why some people's view is that Braintree should have walked off, but then the Conference would have no option but to award Guiseley a win.
It is not a Cup game that could be replayed as in the Arsenal v Sheffield United game when Kano scored.
If replayed Guiseley would have an opportunity to gain another 2 points.
Shocking sportsmanship by Guiseley, and this now sets the tone for every other dodgy club. It is no different to cases where people are allowed to legally take and keep money/things that don't belong to them.
I hope Guiseley don't stay up by a point - especially ahead of us.
-
Disgusting situation. The Guisley management team are more guilty than most over this.
Hope they get relegated now.
-
Filth of the highest order
-
Guisley are blaming the Braintree goalkeeper.
Interview on Guisleys home page.
Don't know have to put it on here!!
-
terrible form from guiseley......the ref should have been more forceful as in "let them walk a goal in or I may look unfavourably on every single penalty claim by Braintree for the rest of the match"...obviously without saying that in so many words....and the guisely captain should have instantly made it clear his team would allow a walk in goal....
be very disappointed if alty ever did that...
seem to remember a club with no class once not even giving us the ball back after we kicked it out for them,,,whatever happened to them I wonder?

Lost all respect for them after that. Complete lack of any sportsmanship!

Boshell argues here that because the keeper deliberately let it bounce over his head, expecting a goal kick, there was no need for Guiseley to do anything. In that tone of voice that cheats have when even they don't believe what they are saying.
Can we unearth something that says we loaned him to Bangor City immediately before he rejoined Guiseley, and even though he didn't play for them we accidently neglected to get his international clearance?
-
I like Guiseley, but that is just utter sh*te. If I were the Braintree manager I'd send an open letter to every other club in the league telling them just what I thought.
-
Watching it again, I don't think any keeper would have saved it!?!?
-
Time for more genuine dropped balls and less of this 'pass it back' habit?
-
There's no way the keeper could have saved that and the fact that the goalscorer raises his arms when it goes in suggests it's not ass accidental as the commentators suggest. Total disgrace.

I don't think that's the right link!

why would you go to that trouble when everyone has seen it on social media

raised his arm I think as a bit of a joke, the blame is on the management as the Lad probably didn't try to score
-
Leeds style - not Yorkshire style
-
If the Guiseley player had any intelligence about him, & intended to give the ball back to Braintree he would have aimed away from the goal & sent it out of play for a goal-kick, which is more or less what ours do in those circumstances. He aimed the ball towards the goal - that means he either has no brains (possible, of course, particularly if he's 'Yorkshire born, Yorkshire bred, strong i''th'arm an' thick in th'ead') or he knew exactly what he was doing (the celebratory arm in the air ...). Either way, the ref could do nothing about it - he had to award the goal. Honesty ought then to have made Guiseley give Braintree a free run on goal - but since when did honesty play much of a part in modern football? I too hope they don't finish one point clear of 21st place ...
-
To be fair the Guisley lad just played the ball back to the keeper, it was a f**k up by the Braintree keeper. Fair play I say
The fact they gave the ball back is fair, if Braintree keeper f**k it up, not Guiseley fault is it?
-
It wasn't just played back to the keeper though was it? - it went well over his head
-
the player lobbed it over the goalie,HE Knew what he was doing
-
If he did he wants to leave Guiseley and play at a higher standard, the fault to me is with the management team of Guiseley and them alone
-
Disgusting. I don't blame the Guiseley player but his captain and manager should have ensured the right thing happened.

Sw would his captain have the power to overrule the manager?

If the players decided to do it the manager couldn't do anything about it
-
Could never play him again
-
Personally, I think Guiseleys are in the right. The bloke looks up to where the keeper is and punts it towards him. Any keeper worth his mettle would move towards the ball to try and get it, not stay where he was and then look peeved. He is far too much to blame. The Guiseleys lad raises his arms, but it's more a baffled celebration than anything else.
The fact is, the Guiseleys management should have done the honourable thing and let Braintree walk the ball in. Not unprecedented at our level when Frank Gray (I think) told his keeper to let the oppo walk the ball in after something similar happened when his Woking(?) side had something similar happen to them.
The player is not to blame for the goal. The management is to blame for not correcting things within the spirit of the game.

So Guisely aren't really in the right then.
-
Definitely missed out the word "players" there Mr Hill. Gosh damn those grammatical errors.

I guess you are having a giraffe when you say the keeper should have saved that shot!!!
I have now watched it eight times.
He was expecting a pass back, not a shot over his head.
-
What should have happened was that the Guiseley player gets cautioned and an indirect free-kick awarded to Braintree for unsporting behaviour.
-
It's not as if it's without precedent this season, from 1:28
