i've not been overly impressed with him since he has rejoined us on loan. My main criticism has been his hair cut and lack of goals scored.

He will be missed... Robbie Williams does not distribute well at all.

With him gone and Coburn and Bateson unavailable then IMO that is it for us.

We have to play 4-3-3 on Saturday in my opinion. We have to attack, but we're woefully thin on the ground at the back now.

Dootson behind a defence of Smith, Williams, Joseph, and Piergianni wouldn't be so bad if Piergianni wasn't rather less than 100% fit, and Williams wasn't so badly out of form. We COULD play Densmore at right wing back, but really we need him in the middle of the park.

It'll be a bloody long afternoon on Saturday I'm afraid.

Head above the parapit a little here but I'm not overly botherd by Greg going back.  I appreciate I'll be in the minority.

He has given 100% and is a true Alty club man but for me he didnt come back the same player as he went.

Whilst seeing your point Ecky might I suggest the following theory as a possible (partial) explanation?

When Greg left he'd played regularly all season. Fitness is about being physically fit and also 'match' fit which, as we all know, is as much about reading the game and having a honed technique.

When he came back he'd hardly played this season and IMHO even full time training will not provide 'match' fitness no matter how physically fit you may be. The only way to gain 'match' fitness is by playing in competitive fixtures

It certainly wasn't his attitude or desire so I am inclined to agree that this is indeed the reason why he didnt excel (IMO)

We will just have to get on with it without him, although I agree that he has not been the 'rock' that he was last season - probably for the reasons explained.

I still cannot get over how 'good' McFatty and Gregan were at the back last week.......I have seen much fitter Sunday pub footballers (over 40's) !

No Pressure Then...That should fill him with confidence! If selected and it's a "big if", we should get behind Williams and the rest of the squad no matter what our personal feelings are about player's performances this season. Saturday is a last chance saloon for all the Lads involved...So C'MON boys you can do it ;D

Gutted about this, as I feel the defence as a whole play a lot better with Greg in the team.

I  cannot believe some of the postings relating to
Greg's departure. He was a player on loan to us,
compare him to some of the other loan players,
with the exception of Conners & Bateson,I think
that we saw far more commitment from Greg &
you have only to look at some of his Alty goal
celebrations to see what it meant to him to be
back at Alty.I think that he is a really sad loss
to the team with three of the most important
remaing games in our club's history.Good luck
to you Greg in whatever the future brings for
you.
