Hiya Sybil and happy Christmas.

We possibly could be on the verge of 3 xmas wins here, and are improving all the time, as again and again we spring more surprises than in the last game.

I know we should not count our chickens or Turkeys as yet, but I still think its time for us all to be more positive.

As Lee says, how far can we go??
I think this post needs to be redirected to roytonmike, he is the one with such low expectations

In his defence, I myself said the day after the play-offs I'd be delighted with 20th. I still would be now, but I know we are capable of more and I'm sure we will do.

From the top of the hills in Saddleworth this morning, is wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and by the time we returned to other end of Oldham at half 1 all the snow had cleared. Unless we get some black ice around tonight I would be surprised if it was off.

James seems to have that "X" factor (but obviously with talent!) and he has a knack of doing the spectacular or necessary at the right time.

And that's why he is our most frustrating player. When he brings his A game, he is easily Football League material. But when he doesn't bring it,the game passes him by. Until the goal, I can't remember what he did during the game

Possibly one of the worst Desmond games I've seen. 1st half had little for either set of fans to cheer about. 2nd half better, but their goals came via deflections, while ours came from a misplaced cross and a great hit from Lawrie.

Draw was a fair result, and not putting a dampner, as a point looking at the table now is a good result. Were it not for our poor goal difference, we could go up to 13th with a win Boxing Day. If we could get 7 points in these next 3 games, we can go to Eastleigh and give them a game again and turn focus back towards the Trophy.

And as for James Lawrie, is he being fed three Shredded Wheat. He played like a man possessed.

Only he know's what he was doing in the build up to their goal. So much time and space to pick his pass. But he didn't get down about it and took his goal well.

Our best performance of the season, only thing you could say is we could have created more clear cut chances. But we worked hard, found space and both goals well crafted and finished.

Special mention to Cav, who is now looking like the player we signed. Some of his passing was brilliant, spraying it across the pitch.

The famous pitch invasion of Bradford, that was when we knew we'd get in the play-offs.

I'm suprised this hasn't been done yet, although I can remember in previous incarnation if a similar thread.

Great Alty comebacks.

I'll start with the obvious Gateshead at home. Two injury time goals including a late penalty on a Tuesday night to come back from 2-0 down.

I always thought Kettering away in 2010 didn't get enough credit. Coming from behind 3 times to get an away point.

Cult, Reed em yourself

One of my rare visits to ML - we have dome this twice to Gateshead in recent years, both with winning penalties.

Is the second one the 1st game back in the Unibond 2000/01 season? Mark Ward with a last minute penalty at Chequers End. Always remember it as until Workington last season was the last game I attended with my dad.

I think its sad that the link was removed.  I under no circumstances condone any offensive or inappropriate comments being posted on here.  I do think fans have a legitimate right to say if they feel that the club is not performing.  The removal of the link seems churlish and surely the club know that there are always one or two who blow hot and cold over any performance.  I remember the times when the forum has been used to convey important information or to gee up the fans ahead of an important game, sad days indeed if the club feel that it no longer wants to be associated with it.  I know there have been problems with anonymity but surely most of the 220,000 posts recorded on here (and I remember the old forum) were information / opinon or dafteness never intended to harm the club.

Simon Ellis (Toffee Apple)

Ah the old forum. Anyone who thought Blyth and Telford was the worst this club experienced, should go on there to look at posts 2002/03 season particularly!!

I can fully understand starting with Gillespie. People are saying he isn't fit, and the only way he can get match-fit is by playing matches. Whilst I understand why Sinnott dropped Reeves and started Perry, it was never going to work as we had no width. The game was crying for the winger to get on, so it was odd that Crowther came on with only 5 minutes to go (more baffling when you think he is fit).

I'm one who wants LS to succeed, as the football we've played under him technically is the best I've seen from an Altrincham side. When we are clicking, we are a good team to watch. But when chips are down, we hide. It needs to change and quickly, either playing or management personnel.

The only positive from last night was that we didn't lose due to lack of effort. I know that is the bear minimum expected, but considering we didn't see it on Sunday it's something.

After tonight's results we drop a place to 18th, but a win tomorrow moves us up to 14th. Even a point moves up to 15th. Have to move on from Sunday and get behind them, and they give us a performance and result required.

In the past, 50 points has not always been enough to stay up. The target to be certain of staying up should really be 60.

Whilst that is true, I think there are a number of poor teams in this league. When we went down last time, 47 points would had been enough. I think a similar haul this season would be enough, although we are capable of more and believe we will.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: How will SINNOUT defend that performance
« on: November 09, 2014, 09:16:25 PM »
I know people like to make Sinnott a scapegoat (understandable, he is manager), but today had nothing to do with tactics, formations etc. We lost today because the players didn't put a shift in. If you're not motivated for ANY FA Cup tie,you shouldn't be playing football. The players IMO get away lightly from flak, and for a change I think they should put hands up and apologise to Sinnott, Tolson and the fans.

For me this was worse than Trafford. There we expected to just turn up and win. Today we knew what to expect and the management will have drilled into them what they needed to do. To start off him we did was speechless.

I do expect a showing at Telford, they owe us big time for today.

Their fans booing the man of the match was bizzare

Looking at their forum they think was the worst player, getting marks of 2 and 3 out of 10.

Echo exactly what Jack says, for a change we weren't Kalpol for the club in crisis. Everyone played there part, and when they got the goal back we battled on brilliantly to hold on to the lead. Confidence back for a tough game Sunday, but play like we did last night and we will stand a good chance of being in the next round.

I was running late and missed Lawrie's header, but it was awful today. You have bad days at the office, but we are having these days too often against sides we need to get results against (Welling,Southport and Nuneaton being other examples).

As someone else has said,it will be great to get Griffin back in and bring some balance to the defence. On a number of occasions today I noticed Cav tracking back as Leather was losing his position.

Gillespie - It was a risk when we signed him as we knew he was injury prone, but has a proven Football League record. For him I think he needs game time to regain confidence, and a loan move would suit everyone.

Pick ourselves up and go again. After the despondency from Welling we picked up 10 from 15. A similar return wouldn't be bad.

Delighted. I would had been there Saturday or Sunday, but have invites to a couple of events on the Saturday,so can make them now.

Just should we win, I need a home draw for 2nd round.

The 'Champions' League

This. How can 2 of the favorites to win the 'Champions League' this season finished 3rd in their leagues (Chelsea and Real Madrid). Just revert back to calling it the European Cup.

Also include commentators/pundits who were mediocre players, but think they know everything about the game (Townsend, Mark Bright and Jason Roberts spring to mind).
