This sort of thing is always worth a try. Even if it never has any chance of success it creates optimism among the fans and brings valuable publicity to the club.

I think Wrexham would be better off rebuilding properly for the future rather than trying to tempt aged has-beens into playing for them. It just shows how out of his depth Saunders is.

It's a typical Saunders ego ploy though, look at so and so, I know him from when I was at here and I did this etc...

we should try and get Paolo Di Canio out of retirement. Sadly, Matt le Tissier is probably a bit too fat now.

Or Jody Banim, who's just signed on for his FIFTH spell at Droylsden !

So, for the sake of argument, if Andy Cole or Ole Solskjaer came along and said they fancied a game and would play for free, then you'd say no, sorry, you're a has been and we're building for the future.

He may be old but he plyed Premiership football last season and from what I recall did ok. He never had pace but has touch and speed of thought which take longer to go.
According to the article he's also studying for his coaching badges.
If he's not working with a club at the moment I'd guess he might be willing to go for a nominal (or sensible BSP coaching) wage and they can register him as a player too then I'd have thought it was a no-brainer. I'd have thought any BSP club would jump at the chance to have someone of that quality working with their players.

Having said that, I'd love to see him go to Wrexham and be a flop!  ;D

Yes I would. We're not Garforth Town and it would not be in our long term interests to sign footballing pensioners.
