FromJL
Sunny afternoon here. Seven subs named today as it is FA Cup. Programme says our manager is Eric Gilchrist; chairman Grahame Rowley has quipped that he has brought in a new manager to improve our Cup form!

They have a few decent players. They have a lot of ball but we have been clinical.

Good away cup performance so far.

Priorities for the second half

1. No injuries
2. No red cards
3. Keep a clean sheet
4. Reevesey hat trick
5. Win by five or more.

Interesting point from JL's report
Alty doing a halftime warm up routine with Neil Tolson. In crowd is referee of Alty's FA Cup tie at Liverpool!
He's the one that gave the Pen that i think Heathcote scored from

Just back. Pretty comfortable throughout although maybe understandably took the foot off the gas after the third. Difficult pitch to pass on (for both sides - they weren't kick and rush by any means) with Nicky probably having his least effective game so far. Plus points, back four were solid with Rodgers again looking the player we've been wanting - breaking up play, protecting the centre backs and getting forward well. Richman again excellent and Mitchley, like against BPA, looking a useful player when he came on. Overall job done if not a little frustrated we didn't push on with a few more goals - but I reckon I'm not alone in saying  I'd have taken any kind of win at 3pm.

:)Well done to Alty and best wishes for you in the next round. It was  good to see a fair few opposition fans at Dean St. and you were a credit to your Club. We at Shildon AFC Supporters Club hope you enjoyed your day in South West Durham and that you all had a safe journey home home. The banter in Old Shildon WMC and in our Clubhouse was a rare treat.I have just left Bonz counting up how many beers he has had and Wilf counting our bar takings. I am sure they are significantly high !!!!
All the best wishes.
Good luck

It was so unlike an Alty away day, never mind on cup day. Nice bit of sunshine, score a few early doors and gain a comfortable win, and the best chippy outside the ground. The portions were so nice and big that the bin outside it was full of boxes with half eaten portions.

Will keep an eye out for Shildon now, nice place and have a good set up there.

Quality day out.

Eric's fish bar is the best chippy I have ever been in.  What a top bloke he was as well.

Chip Barm Splash - £2:20 marvellous!

On the pitch, we started so well and were clinical in our demolition.  We were never going to keep that pace up and Shildon looked  a useful side, playing the ball around well and creating chances.  The difference was this year that we were dealing with the attacks well.

Shildon will feel a little hard done by I am sure, if Reeves had scored the pen then 4-0 would have been very harsh.

A very professional away cup performance and a clean sheet.

Top club Shildon, usual bear pits behind the dugouts but a friendly welcome.

I'll be looking out for them now.

Ecky,

As you rightly observed, trying to finish one of those colossal portions of Eric's fish and chips was like suddenly finding yourself in an episode of Man v. Food.

Renowned Alty trenchermen were seen to submit and suffer a rare defeat.

All in all, an enjoyable and unexpectedly serene Alty away day.

Damian Reeves just missed out on scoring the first Alty FA Cup hat-trick since the legendary Lee Poland's feat at Lancaster City back in 2001.

Good win today, very professional job and just what we needed. I was nervous before the game and would have taken a draw but any fears were alleviated after 10 mins, very comfortable in the end.

A special mention for the Steam Plate Ale in the pub across the road too. Lovely stuff!

The Steam Plate was quite ironic - Bury Alty and I had a very enjoyable pint of it, but noted that it's brewed just down the road from him in Ramsbottom !

Pleased all of you enjoyed your day out and especially Eric's and the beer in the club. He keeps a cracking pint in there.
Sharp's Doom Bar was on earlier but myself and Benny drank it all hence the change to the Steam Plate :D
