very interesting.
If this happened at Alty, what would you pay? Anyone have the cheek to pay £1 or something?
i think i'd pay £10 but then try and bring 20 friends all paying £1.

They did this at Catford dog track years ago. The first race was 7.30. The usual price was £3 but anyone arriving before 6.30 could pay whatever they wanted. The idea was to get as many people into the stadium as possible and hope they would spend money on beer, food, parking, programme etc. It was reasonably successful but it never happened again because the police said they needed to attend due to increased crowds and wanted money for it.

As a serious answer, often the reason I don't go is because I am skint.....however I'd probably pay a fiver in these circumstances...and then load up on John Smiths and pies etc.
The problem is for everyone who comes who would otherwise have stayed away and every regular who would gladly pay the normal admission you would get a regular paying less than he/she would have done anyway....so you'd probably get an increased attandance the gate money I would guess would even out as normal.

don't miss the point that they have selected Gateshead for this, not Oxford or Luton. This is nonetheless a very interesting idea and hats off to the board at pantsfield for having the imagination.
Lastly, as people will be paying on the way in they don't know what they are paying for so its maybe worth sticking a few buckets outside to collect a few more quid after the game.
Finally I'll try this at Tesco next week.

Didn't they do this at FCUM?

It's not what you pay to get in to watch them that I'd be worried about, it's what they charge to let you out ?
