Great news to have such a high profile person doing this. Also great news to hear of such a good start in terms of the number of groups using the hall.

Would have preferred somebody with a strong connection to the town, if not the club. No big names required, could have been the local police officer, head teacher etc.

Good grief!

The point of an opening is to raise awareness, it's purely for publicity. Fergie opening it is going to get the CSH much more attention than if the head teacher of Welly Road did it.

I understand, of course, that Fergie is not the pious man's choice.

Exactly

The hall is going to need as much interest and publicity it can get.. Having Fergie there to open it will help in that regard.

It would also be nice if the reporting of the event is factually correct for once

Dont invite the BBC for christs sake or we will have Sarah Ferguson opening Altringham Wanderers new snack bar !!!!

He's got a fairly strong connection to the club, he was here once or twice a fortnight for years, lives fairly locally and is a footballing icon

I would prefer to have Steve Evans, Frank Sinclair or Jeff Forshaw open it than have the local MP within 100 miles of it

Don't forget to ask him if he's got a spare £63,000.

Whatever your politics, we are in a very lucky position to have an MP that's a local man, both altrincham & sale west, and sale East & Wythenshawe are in this lucky position unlike many areas around the country.
