Title: ***FANS RETURN EMAIL***
Post by: Inter Alty! on May 08, 2021, 03:27:23 PM
Hi all, re return of Fans to Moss Lane, just had the following email from Bill that has been sent to all Season Tic holders in last couple of hours...

From: Bill Waterson <bill@altrinchamfootballclub.co.uk>

Subject: The return of spectators to The J. Davidson Stadium

Dear Season Ticket Holders,

Thank you for your support through this season and thank you too for your patience in waiting to regain access to The J. Davidson Stadium.  For you all the wait is over – I can state with 99% certainty that Season Ticket holders will be able to attend the Yeovil Town and Torquay United games in person.  Trafford BC have confirmed that as a very minimum we will be able to accommodate you all for these two games.  There is still one issue to be resolved before we can admit fans in greater numbers, but you are all assured of access to these two games.  And as I write this on Saturday morning, on a train out of Euston as the rain falls torrentially, one a day looking more like October than May a postponement of the Eastleigh game may even give us an unexpected third game that you can attend!

We will be putting the tickets for Yeovil and Torquay “on sale” for season ticket holders next week.  This is a change to our normal procedure – normally you would just turn up on the day and gain admission.  However, we want to control fan access, to be able to predict numbers attending and to have the ability to Track and Trace attendees.  Therefore, ST holders will be required to obtain a matchday ticket for each game, although of course this will be free of charge.

At the moment we have only had confirmation for seating from Trafford BC, hence the restrictions on numbers remaining for now, so you will be expected to select a seat as part of your ticket acquisition.  Once we have standing confirmed, we will have strict attendance limits on parts of the ground; the seating; the Mausoleum, Golf Road and associated half of the Pop Side; and the Chequers End and that associated part of the Pop Side.  The Media Balcony will act as a divider and no access will be possible from one part of the ground to another.

These arrangements may seem draconian, but we are committed to making the return of fans as safe as possible for our supporters, and of course we want to be fully compliant with the regulations in place.  This will be a more onerous matchday experience for our fans than before the pandemic, but frankly I would happily comply with more imposed restrictions if it allowed us to get you all watching Alty again.

We will launch the e-ticketing for these two games in the coming days, with further instructions on how to make it work.  And we are also hopeful that we will announce a more general ticket sale – always to home fans only as soon afterwards as we can.

Thank you again for your continued support

Bill

Hence, looks like plans now in place for Fans for last two (maybe now three) home games... initial Season Tic holders but looks like subsequent plans for other fans as well...

Tickets will initially be 'sold' free of charge online in coming days to STic holders first... see above email... assume club will put on website later today as well... Happy Dayz! :)

Appears only seating being 'sold' (not standing at present), hence initially STic holders only can apply...

I was really hoping we can welcome both season tickets and other home fans as well . I have a season ticket but be better the more we can get in . Also not that keen on sitting down it's the main reason I haven't bothered to go to the pub yet as it's nonsense ( just my opinion) this is not me moaning at the club in any way as I know it's completely out of our controll as we at the mercy of the rules etc . I may just wait till things return to normal ... If possible !

I understand your point, but, as I read it, being restricted to seating is the current status, and the hope is that more fans will be allowed in by the time the matches take place, and will be allowed to stand.

As you say, we have to work with the rules (there should be a DCMS announcement on Monday) and with Trafford.  Stockport say it's likely that each fan will be expected to provide a lateral flow test 24 hours before the game and provide a negative result, but they and we should know more on Monday.

My guess would be to see how many season ticket holders will apply to attend and then leave the rest of the allocation available to other fans.

As an exile I envy those of you who can go!

I would guess tomorrow (Mon 10th) after govt officially confirm fans allowed then within couple of days Trafford MBC will then agree standing which opens up potential for further fan attendance...

Until above, our ground only has seating in main stand plus some in front of sponsors lounge and with social distancing of maybe one or two seats not used between useable seats this drops 'available' seat numbers further; hence assume reason Season Tic holders only (on top of present Directors who presently go & away team officials, etc) for 1st ticket 'sales' (free to STic holders)...

At present there are 329 season ticket holders but not all will wish to go for various reasons eg may prefer to wait til next season when Covid further under control or simply wish to wait til can stand as option, etc...

NB we have almost 2wks before 1st of two 'fans games' (maybe three depending when Eastleigh re-arranged) so if ok given Monday then i guess standing will be given ok and other fans groups eg patrons, sponsors, people who've donated to various schemes, etc given next chance before general sale... with 2wk window & online tickets this is plenty of time for all to get a ticket...

Also, once Bill & club get ok for standing Bill previously (back in Dec) mentioned a figure of max crowd 1152 which should be sufficient as most crowds in recent times been circa 1100ish (bar big games like local Stockport, Chester, etc)... plus guess as said before not all may wish to go until new season in August for various reasons...

Hence reckon all will get option in next few days to apply after ok given for standing but initially with only minimal seats available the club have decided to reward Season Tic holders with priority option... but i believe in coming days will see tickets available to all once standing ok'd...

Really looking forward to getting back to Moss Lane, enjoying the matchday experience, and catching up with various people including mates... COYR!  :)

I think I'm right in saying that we have around 1300 seats at Moss Lane? This should give plenty of space and potentially allow further tickets to be released?
Title: Re: ***FANS RETURN EMAIL***

There are 1323 seats at Moss Lane (1133 in Main Stand plus 190 in front of Sponsors Lounge)...

This is confirmed on both below articles... 1st Wikip which says capacity 6085 (seating 1323)... but Bill & club upped standing part at start of present season to 2nd article 7873... ('ve also seen on some club articles the figure of 7700)...

NB new capacity is 7873 (seating still 1133 + 190 = 1323)...

Hence seating = 1323 but bear in mind maybe only third to half probably to be used for allowances for social distancing...

"Get you all watching Alty again". I sincerely hope this happens, regardless of people's personal politics, health choices etc.

"Next season when Covid further under control". Or more accurately when restrictions ease. I have a bad feeling about next season though. If they were going to let us go back to "Altrincham v Spennymoor Town" type conditions, I think they would have done so by now, or at least given a definite commitment. It seems clear that at any rate various restrictions will remain in place for some time after fans are officially allowed back, and that the only question is how severely this will impact our crowds. At any rate, it will be a scandal if no Torquay fans are given the chance to see their team get back in the Football League ( if that is indeed the situation on the last day).

"1133 in main stand". I seem to remember counting the main stand seats once and getting 908, including, I think, the press box and directors' box. I'd love to know where the extra seats came from!

Just had an email from Bill addressed to Patrons. Very similar detail to what's been published already but noting that until further announcements then we are limited to 250 fans seated. Further updates to come regarding opening the other stands.

Yep, got similar as i'm both STic holder & a Patron... the email is similar to STic one but one paragraph stands out... this mentions 250 seats but also says hoping for 1202 capacity including standing...

We are waiting for clarification from Trafford BC as to what our capacity would be, and at the moment we are being limited by them to around 250 seats, with no standing fans allowed.  To be clear, they haven’t finished their deliberations yet, and they are awaiting clarification from both the DCMS and the SGSA.  Looking around the National League, we understand that the consensus is that standing fans will be allowed in stadia, and we wait for clarification from Trafford that this is also their understanding.  If this is the case, and we are confident that it will be, then our capacity for the last three games of this season will be 1202.

Just had this update from FA, its ridiculous that what is said for step 3 and below into Grassroots!! Crowds can be much bigger..

 Spectators

From Step 3, spectators will be permitted to view events on both public and private land but need to adhere to social distancing rules and social gathering limits set at groups of 30 outdoors and six people/two households indoors. Please note that multiple numbers of these group sizes are permitted as long as social distancing rules are followed.

Spectators are allowed indoors, but the total number of all participants, coaches, officials and spectators must comply with the ventilation rates permitted by the particular venue. You can find more information about this here.

At larger events, capacity limits for spectators, set by The Government will apply. For indoor events this is 1000 or 50 per cent of capacity and for outdoor events this is 4000 or 50 per cent of capacity (whichever is lower in both cases).

I don't have the option as I can't stand for that length of time. Might still wear a mask. Can only get to the Torquay game anyway so me and Mrs S will be there hopefully.

Confirming Andy Flynn's comment we will have streaming for the last three games, as well as fans.

And for next season we have asked the league to clarify the position as to whether streaming will continue.  I have been discussing this with TicketCo and working on the assumption for now that it will be continuing
Title: Re: ***FANS RETURN EMAIL***

To continue streaming is a double edged sword: on purely selfish terms I would love to see it continue next season.

However: would streaming next year reduce matchday income not only from tickets sold but from food, drink etc? Would this compensate for added income from exiles paying for the stream?

Maybe a compromise for the live stream to start at, say 5pm or 10pm Tuesdays, after the game has finished, especially if the national League won't allow live streaming?

Streaming doesn't give the social aspect nor the important the childcare aspect (parents bringing the kids gives a partner a break).

Streaming doesn't give the social aspect nor the important the childcare aspect (parents bringing the kids gives a partner a break).

And a dad and 2 kids watching the stream is one single ticket and no snacks or drinks etc as opposed to 1 adult tickets and 2 kids and the add on expenses.

Post by: andrewflynn on May 18, 2021, 08:35:32 AM
Personally, I wouldn't like to see it continue across the league next season. Of course I appreciate that it keeps exiles connected, but we don't exactly have the highest travelling support in the league. I fear the continuation of streaming would see us have some very poor turnouts in support of the lads.

EDIT: Plus, the same can be said for away attendances at Moss Lane.

The other drawback of no streaming is the arsehole clubs who won’t let radio robins in. This must annoy other clubs too. Could we have a word with the league and see if they can stop this unnecessary constraint?

Call me overly traditional but I just think streamed games get away from what non-league football is supposed to be about.

For me, there's something quite rewarding about following the team away from home to watch the game. You make the effort to be there and that should count for something when you share your opinion at the end of the game: win, lose or draw.

If you keep streaming past COVID I just fear there'll be a rise in casual armchair support, particularly when we play away from home. It would do my head in if I'm being honest. If I've spent £100 on an away day I don't want to hear about how sh*t we were from someone who paid a tenner and stayed at home, as high and mighty as it sounds.

I get where you are coming from and i wouldnt want to see our away fans dwindle.  I've been all over the country following, my own circumstances with 3 kids and where I live (all self inflicted - I know), just means many national away games are just unavailable.  I think there are a good pile of exiles who have been able to keep in touch, perhaps the cost should go up so it doesnt detract from travellers who can.

Here's Bill's email to all Season Tic holders tonight...

NB check your personal email inbox...

All,

The time has come!   The day has arrived!!  Fans are coming back into The J. Davidson Stadium.  And as promised, the Season Ticket holders are at the front of the queue.

In order to process you as priority tickets, and to make sure you are not charged for the game, I have decided to personally process your tickets for the Yeovil Town game myself.

Can you please by return let me know:

Your name and email address

Your preference on whether seated or standing

And if standing

Golf Road and CSH and that end of the pop side or

Chequers End and the other end of the pop side

If sitting

Main Stand or Family Stand and any specific seat requirements

To remind you, you will not be able to move from one end of the ground to the other - so if you start on the Golf Road, you end on the Golf Road and likewise with the Chequers End.

I recognise this is a bit "clunky" and I hope to have a smoother system in place for the subsequent games.

But, most importantly we are back inside the ground - and Saturday is only 4 days away!

Looking forward to seeing you all

Bill

There were a number where RR weren't allowed in.   I think Dover was a BBC agreement and that's OK I suppose as long as BBC are covering it and we can access it via website but some are in areas where the BBC have a number of games to chose from and may not be covering the game anyway.  My main issue though is I thought broadcast rights were negotiated at league level not by individual clubs - what gives these clubs the right to arrange their own exclusive radio deals?  There are two clubs represented on the pitch not just them.

Secondly, if you haven't yet emailed me about attending the Yeovil match, please do let me know your intentions.  Over 150 ST holders have already responded, and I can very easily see the Golf Road selling out as soon as the tickets go on open sale.  I don't want you to miss out on having first choice on where you stand.

I will hold putting the tickets on general sale until I have given you all a chance to respond.

Thanks and regards

Bill

One of my mates replied to Bill's new email bang on 5pm and has since got his e-ticket... i replied about 6pm and not received mine yet but assume will get in next hour or so as Bill gradually works through his email replies... guess we all just need to be patient & let Bill get through all his emails that must be overflowing from his email inbox...

Bill sent out a 2nd email this evening saying anyone who replied last night should resubmit as there was an issue with his email.

I got my ticket 10 minutes after resubmitting

From a personal point of view i replied at about 6pm to his 2nd email that Bill sent today at about 5pm... however, as of now i still await my e-tickets (i'm waiting two as two season tickets in my family)... that said, a mate replied at shortly after 5pm and received his e-ticket within an hour...

Guess some getting sent quicker than others, but i like everyone else will just have to be patient... Bill is doing a great job on his tod and i'm sure he'll update us all shortly or in the morning... can't wait for Saturday...

Still not received my e-ticket email reply from Bill yet... little concerning as all my mates have received replies and i replied to his 2nd email around same time as mates... however, assume Bill has a lot of emails still to get through so not panicking yet... will wait til lunchtime to see if get email with tickets...

So anyone who has not received a reply yet you are not alone... just assume Bill snowed under and also expect update today on social media (none yet) about residual ticket sales as just two days til Saturday's game...

I'm in the same boat so i'm glad i'm not the only one.  Usually much calmer than this but dont want to miss out on the opportunity.  Its really a one off and i've missed it so much

Finally got email from Alty FC saying e-ticket attached about 30mins ago... so just received my two tickets... assume others will get theirs shortly...

Guess Bill just working through all his emails... said over 150 in his inbox & guess with people potentially chasing may have approx 200 emails to review... sure he'll get through them soon... fingers crossed all get tics...

If the patrons are being dealt with now could those of us waiting for open sale be informed it will either be tonight or that process will start tomorrow? At least we can stop monitoring the website and social media and go to bed at some point. Closed for business or open sale starts soon would be great ☺
