Altrincham FC First Team / What a tie
« on: October 27, 2007, 05:46:49 PM »
What a bloody tie, the atmosphere will be electric.

We need to get Val fit to break up attacks !!!!

Too excited already, love FA Cup.

272
Again we waited until we were losing until we brought on a winger. Today we again had a centre mid on one wing and a forward on the other. Also can we please have someone on the keeper on set pieces because surely thats a basic tatic. Shotten was 2 foot taller than the keeper, should have stuck him on the keeper. If we started more attacking against them we would have won, sorry but Pat is not good enough for the conference, Logan is better than the conference. I keep going home baffled !!!One good thing Senior started again instead of O'Neil. Sorry not much good to say about today, terrible. Shotten played excellent, great defender !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Little and Senior
« on: October 03, 2007, 07:16:46 PM »
Even when we start O'Neil in a friendly we lose ha, sorry bit harsh. So glad that Graham has opted to play Senior and Little for the last two league games, which has gained us 6 points and 4 goals. Now lets stick with those two and attacking footy. Roll on Saturday, lets see Logan and Potts too. Also, like I have also previously stated, we have dropped Sedgemore which needed to be done, adds nothing to Alty's play !!!

274
Drop Joe O'Neil, play Little and Senior up front, wth Logan on the wing and you will see the difference. By hell Joe O'Neil has had his chance, think i would have scored more than him. Did not make it on Tuesday but I have been told that we played with Joe up front on his own, jesus not in a million of years were we going to score goals. Please Graham give Senior and Little a chance, they are small but we shi*e at pupping long balls in the air anyway, so lets get it on the ground and play footy. Also Lawton you've had your chance, get Pottys playing. Have faith in our attacking players !!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / The drunken truths
« on: September 09, 2007, 03:59:29 AM »
Ok , i've come in at 3.15 am after a night on the pi55. Today's game hurt me a lot, more than any other game for a long time. Lets stop giving teams credit. Yes we are part time but we can compete at this level. I am a fan, thats all I am, but I am a fan who believes this team is better than we think it is. I think the management give other teams too much respect . I can quite easily say pi55 up that when Logan came on and he was the most talented player on the pitch. We had Potts, Senior and Logan on the bench at the start. I have not read the postings since the game, but we started with four centre mids in midfield again, I honesty love graham but please at least give us one winger at home. I have watched Alty for a long time now and the times we have been good are when we've had a Showler, Sharrat, Terry, Ellison type of player on the wing and then a McKenna, Green type of player in the middle up front. Everyone knows what I think of Joe. Respect for his effort but he is not going to help us, he is no forward, he's weak and does not know what runs to make.Already this season I have seen Pottsy put balls in, that I would DREAM off as a striker, but there's no person attacking it. Actually respect for Peyton back post attacks, but where's the six yard box man and that is O'Neil??? miles behind the play. Since Robinson we have shut shop on attacking football, but that season we were awesome at home. We have the players to attack teams. Sedgmore scored a screamer today, quality goal but he ain't done nothing for the team. Aspinal played well today until the second and third goal but again he always has a big mistake in him. Munroe has stepped his game up so much but we have now had Lawton, Little and Munroe sent off, I love players who get stuck in and I think that's what makes the English game but lets Fu*king stop kicking out at players, especially when we know that they are going to gone down and roll about. I ain't no manager even though I think I am drunk but lets go at teams from the start and stop waiting until we are one or two nil down before we start playing because that is all I have seen this season. People's reply is going to be, we attacked today and we lost 3-1. yes not debating that, but how about attack from the start, get a lead, yes a lead, shock for some people, and then try and hold it for the last 15 mins, instead of always chasing full time footballers for some sort of result. Sick of just waiting until we are losing to start playing football. Makes me laugh when people say Pottsy can't last 90 mins, you know why he can't last 90 mins. it's because we play part time footy????? where we only train twice a week at the most. The players work, so the only way he will get fit is to play him, I have said this about Rod in the past. Favourites, last season Bushell was played half fit in a lot games. Love Robbie Lawton but if he ain't going to play in the middle then Pottsy deserves his chance. Whilst we have Logan we need to play him, at home whack Peyton at left back and Logan on the wing. I have so much respect for the managment and the team but as I have said before if we don't attack teams especially at home we are going down but we have a team that  can easily stay up. I believe that !!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Well done lads
« on: September 01, 2007, 05:18:08 PM »
I thought we played really well today. Attacking football was a joy to watch. The lads gave there all, we still need a centre back, can we not get Bandy back. Aspinal is crap, Peyton has been playing well further up the field but I think we need him at left back to tighten our leaking defence up. Logan is quality, so good to see a proper winger playing on the wing insted of a centre mid.Don't really need to say much about Pottsy, again just quality, best passer at the club. He crosses were unbelievable. Senior was a constant threat and there defence could not cope with him. Not really buzzing off Sedgemore, what does he actually do? he is good at free kicks but apart from that doesn't ever touch the ball. I have always said Alty play better attacking, would loveto see Logan, Pottsy and Senior all start a game. Yeah we still lost but I think thats just down to our defence. Munroe and Lane are good enough but not sure about Tinson. That was certainly our best game this season and we were just unlucky, another day we might have got 4 or 5.

Altrincham FC First Team / RUBBISH
« on: August 25, 2007, 05:09:26 PM »
Grays did not even look a good team, yet again we start with a defensive team and YET again we wait until it is too late to change the team. Joe ONeil is a waste of bloody time,he gets bullied every week, lets start with Senior or Thornley, they are by far better players than Joe and they would gurantee more goals. Joe does not even make clever runs, painful to watch him. Also lets play Pottsy, can not remember when Lawton last played well, think it was Northwich at home. No excuse we were crap and should have attacked that very poor Gray's defence. Graham please gamble with an attacking team, especially at home otherwise we have no chance. We have to beat teams at home and we play and defend a lot better playing attacking football. Well played Lane ( quality defender ), Peyton and Acton today.

Team at home

GK Coburn

RB Lane
LB Peyton
CB Munroe
CB Rose ( need another centre back )

RM Pottsy
CM Whalley
CM Val
LW Senior/Peyton

FW Little
FW Thornley/Senior

Altrincham FC First Team / Last night
« on: August 15, 2007, 05:15:31 PM »

We looked so much more attacking with Senior playing, for me it was good news when Joe was on the bench. Lets keep someone like senior or Rod up front with Colin. I'm praying for Peyton to be fit soon, can't cope with watching Aspinall leaving his marker all the time and when he does get the ball kicking it as far up the pitch as he can get without any aim.

I hope Graham plays Pottsy for when Lawton is suspended, still think we need some width. Halifax last season were awful and in my opinion apart from Campbell and that winger who was substituted, they still are awful. Good performance last night to come back, after the second I thought our heads would drop but we kept going and I think in the end we had more of the game. Keep it going lads !!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Heathcote is an alty legend
« on: August 12, 2007, 12:22:01 PM »
In my eye's there is no other manager. We would have sunk without Graham and Dalton. I personally think we will be stronger than last season, but I am still worried we haven't got the fire power. Still in shock how Joe O'Neil won player of the year, he just ain't going to score the goals. We were a bit narrow as well yesterday, we were playing four centre mids, I was impress with Whalley, great passer and Val Owen has the energy of a 18 year old, unbelievable how he breaks up attacks. Still think we should start with either senior or Potts on the wing, it spreads the play. There were many times when we had it in Centre mid but no-one was out wide, so we'd look for the feet of Joe, who isn't strong enough. I would give Rod or Berkeley a run of games, I think we'd score goals. We need Peyton back at left back, aspinal is no defender !!!

Anyway back to the point why I came on here. As far as I'm concerned Graham has done an unbelievable job, the effort and hours he puts in to this club. We are entertaining quality teams week in and week out. Without Graham we would be going to places like Barrow, Hyde and the others. Already this season is a bonus for us fans, because no-one thought we'd be here. Lets get behind the lads and I think we will survive, we have better depth to the team!!! and I think we'll beat Halifax on Tuesday so everyone make the effort to get there !!! COME ON ALTY

Altrincham FC First Team / Bring back Maddox and Pottsy
« on: May 17, 2007, 11:50:35 AM »
Band is a big loss for us, a quality centre back. I will be disappointed if Band leaves for Hyde. Hyde is a nice set up but they are a small club. Fair enough if he wanted to return to the conference.

Reading before that GH needs Gary Scott to prove his fitness. We need to keep Scotty, half fit Scotty can defend better than bloody Aspinal, who just leathers tha ball up the pitch. Think we need to release Andy Scott to make room for a another player, one that can maybe play football. Still don't forgive him for that back pass, which helped towards are relegation.

Got to try and get Pottsy and Maddox back. A fit Maddox can fill Bandy'd boots in this league. Pottsy is a class player who can change the game with one pass/cross. As said before I prefer Rod, but if we got Pottsy back O'Neil would benefit because I could see him getting a lot more headed goals. When Hallows scored a few goals in a short period of time I remeber Pottsy setting so many upl. I feel we have missed a winger like Pottsy last season who can get to the by line and whip in a quality hard ball. If we can keep Lewis and get Pottsy then we have good width, but I feel we still need another two wide attacking players. Lewis should stay one more season as this league would make him a stronger player and if he kept fit then he would become a lot better player !!!!

Bring Kieran back as well, someone who we can put on in last 20 mins. He did so well for us and changed games. A bit more effective then McFadden. This league is no where near the fitness of the conference so if we keep everyone fit and have quick players to bring on who can attack we will do ok.

Altrincham FC First Team / Up front next season ?
« on: May 11, 2007, 04:33:28 PM »
Rod Thronley and Colin Little are the partnership for me and I think if they had played more games together in the conference we would not be relegated. When Thornley plays we look dangerous and I think those two are our best forwards. Joe started to prove me wrong towrds the end of the season as early in the season I said he was useless. Joe tries so hard and he should score more goals next season, but I think Thornley would score a lot more and its goals we need, as if we keep our defence we shouldn't leak many goals next season.

Another idea next season could be playing rod out wide and having Joe and Col up front, especially at home,  because we have to be honest the standard is so much worse. Last point as I'm whaffling on but we MUST attack teams next year not go one up and defend. I think Lewis may leave but if we keep everyone else plus two wingers and maybe a tall striker it will be happy days. Maybe we can persuade Senior.

Altrincham FC First Team / Support for Saturday
« on: April 26, 2007, 06:34:03 PM »
Not sure if I repeating someone elses posting as I've just logged on, but everyone sholud try and bring at least one friend down on saturday, if everyone could manage that it would boast the crowd up by quite lot. Also tell that friend to invite a friend, and the freind of the friend to invite another friend. We need a massive support on saturday, most of us will be going through the motions with nerves etc, but lets get right behind them.

Altrincham FC First Team / Need to change the team before it's too late
« on: February 03, 2007, 06:44:18 PM »

I was not there today due to work.

I think we will be relegated if we don't start attacking more.If Graham has said that Thornley is not a striker anymore what the bleeding hell is O'Neil? I can honestly say that if Thornley had started as many games up front as Joe he would have at least twice as many goals and by god that is what we need. The team should be

Coburn

LB Peyton
RB G Scott ( a lot better defender than Aspinal)
CB Munroe
CB Band

LW Senior
RW Lawton
CM Bushell
CM Chamlers or Val

CF Little
CF Thornley

Little and Thornley played well together last year, in my eye's still the best partnership we have. Joe has been given long enough, give someone else a try. I remember at home last year we went out all attack and looked like scoring. We so badly miss a Pottsy or Robinson, why not play n attacking team from the start? especially at home. Southport are garbage and we've lost to them. It seems I only come on here to moan but the fact is I'm bricking it as I see the team we are playing has no goals in it. Most of the time we have four centre mids playing at the same time in midfield, how are we going to create chances for the strikers ? and especially for a striker who needs about 7 chances to get a goal in O'Neil. Sorry Joe love you work rate but you ain't good enough. Also the fullbacks don't overlap as much this season, we need to take chances, seems like we wait until we are losing then decide to attack and most of the time it is too late then.

Altrincham FC First Team / We need to attack from the start
« on: January 27, 2007, 05:23:06 PM »
I think it showed how much we need to attack teams to survive in this league. Different team second half.It was so much better having attacking players on the wings in Thornley and Senior. Do not have to repeat myself about Rod as he proved it when he came on but he has to start games. We were so flat footed in first half. They were a strong team but again we were fitter than them, pushing right until the final whistle.

I just hope we start with more attacking players from the start or I do think we will go down.People said that we are playing better this year passing more etc,but I don't care doesn't get us three points, goals do and I appreciate Joe's work rate but he simply isn't going to score the goals. He holds it up ok, but he has no movement in the box, never makes the darting runs into the box like he should be.Little are O'Neil don't workas a partnership either. Lets give Rod 4 or 5 games up front and get Senior on either wing. We are missing Bushell as well. Munroe andBandy played really well today.

Altrincham FC First Team / Peyton on the left wing?
« on: January 26, 2007, 07:35:13 PM »

Fair enough if this new left beck is quality but I think pushing Warren further forward will weaken us. Peyton has done well at left back, and i do like him  but for me Thornley has been class attacking on the left. Warren is a failry slow player who for me is a tough tackling centre mid not an attacking left winger. Thornley on the left has attacked teams like Jimmy Robinson did for us last year, which gave us a different dimension. If thornley is going to be dropped from left wing then he is by far the second best striker we have. Joe O'Neil runs his heart out but he's no finisher and Little is the type of player who looks to play a striker in. I think if Thornley is given the same amount of games O'Neil has played then I honestly believe he would of at least doubled O'Neil's total for the season and we need the goals. I've watched Alty for years and the best we defend is to go at teams, not having this about full time teams being fitter than us. There's only been a handful who I have seen to be fiiter than us, it could just be more heart from our team. It is a credit to the lads and Graham on how physically fit we are, 100% effort, so lets go at teams with more direct play, the sort of driving runs Robbie Lawton does for example.
