Altrincham FC First Team / ATTACK
« on: August 08, 2008, 10:26:38 PM »
I read comments from Graham saying that he was happy with our pre season but we need to make sure we get 11 men behind the ball as often as we can, NO that was last season, bloody attack. Barrow did it tonight, STOP GIVING BIG TEAMS RESPECT, there is not much difference between part time and full time. Definately not in fitness, we tend to end games stronger mainly due to the fact we are chasing but it still shows gas in the tanks. All the fans want attacking footy so lets have it. Also whats this about bringing everyone back on corners, we must at least leave someone like Senior or Little on half way line that takes two players out of our box straight away. I didn't see the barrow game, but I hope Carlos played well !!! Anyway come on Alty for tomorrow, bloody go at them. I would still start with Senior, so he can tire them out !!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Two main ways of staying up
« on: July 30, 2008, 02:36:17 PM »
Two main ways of staying up for me this season is obviously keeping everyone fit but the main one is I believe we will score a lot more goals. I piped on last season that its goals that get us the points and we were poor last season. I think our wide men created no more than a hand full of goals all season and that was the main reason we were in the bottom four.

My only concern is that Graham will still hold back on playing two attacking wide men. I hope this isn't the case because it will be so annoying seeing the likes of Elam, Denham, Senior sat on the bench. I really don't care what people say but Peyton ain't good enough so he should be sat on the bench right next to O'Neil. We should always start Denham on the right of midfield and have Elam or Senior on the left. I am yet to see Johnson play but at home I would like to see us start with Senior upfront and have both Elam and Denham playing. I can not wait to see us attack teams, I have been waiting for signings like these for years, lets not waste the talent by having them sat on the bench.

Also this debate about Shotton,I am with Ecky we probably haven't got the budget but if we have then theres no debate we get him but I think it will be on loan. If we did it would have to be Young and him at centre back, Shotton is a centre back not right back. I'm also with Gary Warrington when he says that Lane is one of the best right backs we've had at the club, he was harshly treated last season because he was playing really well and was dropped,Lane is a great defender, carries the ball upfield well and has a quality cross.

Elam once fully fit will be a very good signing for us and I am just so excited for this season. Hiopefully we can keep all the players fit.

I haven't seen any friendlies as I don't really like going to them, but has anyone got an opinion on Street ???? nothing much has been said but its important to have a solid centre mid as well!!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Bring it on

Great signing in Lee Elam.

I am so so excited about this season for once even I have positive vibes. Maybe another centre mid and centre half and its complete. Even dreamt about the Wrexham game at home the other night ha ha.

Please Graham make sure you play the wide players such as Denham, Elam, Senior and get the old days back of attacking footy at home with good wingers. Bring on the bloody Alty.....

Last season was so negative, lets now rip teams apart at home !!!! happy days !!! in fact lets rip them apart away too

Altrincham FC First Team / Chris Senior and Laney
« on: July 23, 2008, 10:54:41 AM »
I haven't been to any of the friendlies but I am really happy to read that Chris Senior is playing well and scoring. This lad for me is a dangerous player who I think should start week in week out, whether thats up front or on the wing. Last season he was used a lot in the last 20 mins when we were losing and chasing the game. None of that rubbish this season, lets stop giving teams respect and go out and attacking and get a goal or two in front. Chris will tire defenders out, so i will always start with him. Hopefully Laney will get a good go at right or centre back, because he is a great defender who should have played all season at right back, with Shotton and Young at Centre back. I am glad to see the back of Tinson, he costed us in a lot of games but we still need to make sure we get another centre back. And I can not wait until I see Denham. I can not wait for the season to start. Come on Alty.

« on: April 27, 2008, 10:24:57 PM »
I can not stop thinking about the game.

Well done lads you gave it everything.

Message for Ryan Shotton - All I can say is your a true legend and played with an Alty heart. You will always be remembered and hopefully one day you will return.

Have not got a clue how I am going to sleep when i am re-living every single minute of that game.

Never should be in this position but we are and hopefully we can keep the support next season. We need a instant return from the sh*te league we are going into.

Altrincham FC First Team / Truth Hurts
« on: April 22, 2008, 09:54:30 PM »
Hate to say this but I saw this coming and called it months ago. Changes should have been made months ago. We sat back in far too many games, there were some bad tactical decisions, one sticks in mind is playing Aspinal and Scott in Centre mid at home to Northwich. We would go a goal or two down in games and then start attacking, goals win games and if we had gone for it from the start in more games then we would not be this position I am pretty sure about that. Chasing full time teams for a result just isn't going to work !!!!

We have conceded a lot of goals close to half time and the end of games, big one 3-1 up against Salisbury and conceding two in the 90th min, poor. We had Logan for a long time and he should have been used a lot more especially at home. No-one dare say 'end product' because Peyton, Robbie and Toulson have set up f*ck all. Should have used Cahill instead of O'Neil.

People may now see that your O'Neils and Peytons ain't good enough, they are just favourites. Big loss Val Owen. At the end of the day we have not battled enough in games this season. Sedgemore use to trot around the field like it was a Sunday league game, how he played that many games I do not know. For me what people don't also see is the amount mistakes Tinson has made and are now costly. Shotton and Young should have been the Centre backs. Senior should not have been dropped for a number of games, he has always been a constant threat, dropping him clearly knocked his confidence. It has been a poor season and there has been so many poor half hearted performances. Please God let it turn around on Sat but I just can not see it. One day I would like to see wingers and a creative midfielder back at this club. Rubbish.

Lets keep attacking, right to the end. I hope its not too late, come on boys. I just wish we went for it months back, we would not have been in this position. Even Shotton is showing O'Neil what a striker should be doing. Come on Alty you can get maximum points from the games remaining !!! Also we need to play Senior, he is a constant threat !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Attacking football
« on: March 16, 2008, 12:04:58 AM »
I did not go today and have not gone to the last two home games as its stressing me too much. Maybe I have no right to comment because I have not been but I still speak to a few friends who have beene. I have said all season we need to attack, if we don't we will go down, it is as simple as that. People will say we will end up losing by more but don't people realise we HAVE to SCORE GOALS to win, why not try and get a lead. Last home game I believe we had a right back on the wing ( Lane ) and Peyton on the left, what are we going to produce with those two. Also I believe O'Neil started he won't get goals and there has not been many games we have won we him starting, just look at the facts. Lets stop this tactical bo**ocks and go at teams, I honestly think some of the team selections this season have been crazy. Everyone knows what I thought about Carlos Logan but to be honest I knew an exciting player with skill and ability wouldn't be given the chance, because in certain people's eye's he was too risky. Well we need to take some gambles now or we are going down. Again I would rather see us attack than keep losing by a goal or two, if we lose by more than so be it, we have to at least give it a go and it has to be 4-4-2. The football we have played this season has been shocking apart from a handful of games. My team for the next home game would be

1) Coburn

RB) Lane
CB) Shotton
CB) Young
LB) Lynch ( so gutting losing Jennings )

RW ) Roca ( give him a go, why not ??? )
LW) Peyton (  Peyton is so average and people need to see it, the amount of balls he gives away is untrue but we have no-one else )
CM ) Lawton
CM ) King

CF) Little
CF ) Senior

We are in desperate need of wingers and a striker, plus a fit Val Owen ( we have missed him so much, on his day he breaks up play better than anyone I have seen in the conference ). If we had Cahill still, I would have dropped Peyton and played Senior RW and Roca LW. As for Tinson he makes far too many mistakes and is too slow, we need Shots back in the centre which is his natural position and is better than Tinson. Lane is by far our best right back not a bloody right winger !!!! Play people in their natural and best positions, get some wide men and Val back !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Creative midfield player
« on: February 21, 2008, 07:17:09 PM »
We do need a big strong striker who is quick and can score, but I feel we need creative players more. None of our midfield have the ability to create a goal, they are all hard working but the wingers hardly ever get to the by line to cross the ball. Little, Senior and Cahill are all fairly small in height but all three are more than capable of scoring when given some cahnces rather than just hoofing balls up head high where there not going to win it. I feel we would benefit from at least one decent winger who can take people on and knock a decent ball in for the likes of Senior who is quality at making movements in the box. We are not scoring simply because we try and play the long ball !!! I personally think a decent wide player or two would benefit us a lot.

Please can we have a winger ??? Toulson is slightly better than Peyton out wide. Get Senior on the wing.
