Altrincham FC First Team / SHOCKING
« on: October 24, 2009, 07:56:29 PM »
We were shocking today, embarrassing… they wanted it more and bullied us

Williams – over rated and immobile
Densmore – As mentioned a week or two back, having a shocking season for his standard
Lawton – not good enough unless really fit and can ONLY play centre mid
Danylyk – just isn’t quite good enough, too slow
Clee – many times in the past wingers have been slammed because they had no end product, again we have a winger with no end product. Might do a good run now and again, whoopy flaming do !!! not good enough
Burns – lightweight, spent all game on the floor
Little – love the legend but age is catching him, only can play with quality around him and in Burns that is not it !!! McKenna would have been more influential up top today, bit of strength

Can not believe Young started on the bench when they have two tall strong guys upfront who are handy. Lost without Denham and Senior. Gutted about Dale, because we are a completely different team with him up top.

I appreciate that we have had bad luck with injuries and suspensions but I feel like I have been ripped off today. Poor poor effort. Gutted we needed a good run. I left early but I said to my brother I hope we keep our discipline and then I find out our best centre mid will be missing for 3 games. sh*t day and I hate Mansfield – horrible place !!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Call me superstitious
« on: October 19, 2009, 05:16:51 PM »
Call me superstitious but does anyone else think we play a lot better or get more results when we come out second half shooting towards the away end. Plus if there is a good away following we seem to respond to that second half which creates a healthy atmosphere which in the past has got the lads going. Thoughts ?

Altrincham FC First Team / Questions and FA Cup
« on: October 13, 2009, 11:57:20 AM »
I am being too lazy to scroll through all the posts so if someone has already posted about the below, then I am sorry. I couldn't attend the Mansfield game but I was just wondering if anyone can clarify the below:-

What is the crack with the red cards, do we have Senior out for the FA Cup tie ???

How bad is Denham injury ?

Any results from Dales scan?

I am well up for the FA Cup game, massive game, we need to progress further to gain extra funds,  so everyone make sure they get to the game. In the past our fans have made such a difference in FA Cup ties so lets all make the extra effort

Altrincham FC First Team / Injuries and advertising
« on: September 23, 2009, 09:43:40 AM »
Does anyone have any idea how long Little, Johnson and Young are going to be out for ?

We really need a left sided player, struggled out left again last night.

I was thinking the other day that we do not really advertise Altrincham FC in the Town Centre, surely the council would work with us to promote the local club. Is there no way we could get funding to put a large bill board up advertising and inviting people to support their local team.I was thinking one big f**k off board as you go over the bridge into Alty near Tescos, it is always busy in that area. Find a quality picture, maybe several pictures of goal celebrations with players and fans on and and an inviting message. I feel we need to promote better, rather than a small sheet off paper stuck on the side of the walls around the ground !!! we do have it hard with united, the growing city, everton, liverpool and so on, but we could try a bit harder in that area.

I know he's getting on but any chance we could afford Yeo's wages for a short term option? quality finisher !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Team
« on: August 31, 2009, 12:52:15 AM »
With injuries and suspensions I would go for the below team tomorrow

GK Coburn

LB Doughty
RB Smith
CB Young
CB Williams

LW Senior
CM Kierney
CM Danylyk
RW Denham

CF Little
CF Johnson

Footy is a funny game, can not believe what has happened to us in a week. I was excited, now concerned. Gutted about Crowell and Senior getting injured, but lets get behind them tomorrow !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / SUBS !!!!
« on: August 12, 2009, 11:33:45 AM »
I am still shocked, 1 nil up and he brings on Denham and Little, keeping Dale and Senior on, quality subs. I was sat there listening to it.. we were getting battered for the first 20 mins of the second half and I was screaming for Denham to come on to relieve the pressure of the defence. Graham, it is has taken a few years but those were some cracking substitues, loving it. However I would still start Denham with Crowell and Kearney centre mid and possibly Heff on the left ( sounded like he had a good game ). Well done lads, great performance !!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Sat and Barrow
« on: August 09, 2009, 06:26:25 PM »
Positives in the first half was the passing on the ground, it was a pleasure to watch. I like the look of Crowell, quick, calm and a good passer. It was a shame he took an early knock. Kearney looked a good player but my concern is that he seems a bit slow. I was so glad to see Denham start but he needs to learn to chill out a bit and look up, he was a constant threat but end product was poor. He is a pure adrenaline player but he needs to lookup and pass at the right time, but saying that we missed him when he was subbed, even though it was not one of his best games he still had them worried and deserves a good string of games to settle.

The obvious concern is the left side, Jennings will be the one that got away but we need to sign a left sided midfielder. It is very early but it looks as if Clee is not up to this standard, unless he’s not fit. Lets hope it was just nerves which he can overcome, but he was lazy getting back and seemed to have little pace… please not another Peyton!!!. Young and Dale were immense. With the players we have I’d possibly start the same team but have senior left side to replace Danylyk ( out of position )and get Col up top. Any how, at times on Saturday it was a joy to watch considering 5 years back we struggled to put two passes together. Next two games will be tough, come on Alty !!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Last night and Saturday
« on: April 08, 2009, 09:02:55 AM »
Well done lads for coming back into the game but I do feel two points were lost against a very poor team. We have to learn to get out quicker from corners or as someone has already posted, why not have a couple of players already out of the box to close players down. The player should not have been able to shoot that far out, I saw it a mile off and no-one got close to him, it was very poor defending. Also in the first half it was only Grey young and Little that were giving it there all. Much better second half, I feel Rod lifted us but I would have put him right up on the line. I think this could be Peyton's last season he is so far off the pace, I'd only play him as a very very last resort.I know we have injuries and suspensions and Kiddy will be a hard game but with the players we have available I would start with... persuming Welch is injured.

GK Coburn

LWB Doughty
RWB Smith
CB Lane
CB Young
CB McGregor

CM Wilkinson
CM Densmore

LF Little
CF Johnson
RF Thornley

Someone will come on and say 'Thornley is not match fit' well he looked alright to me and you can see his hunger. Plus is Wilkinson match fit??? doubt it. Sometimes we have to gamble and go for it. I felt the O'Neil sub was pointless last night, even though he did well. I would have brought Thornley on earlier and gone with

GK Coburn

LBW Doughty
RWB Smith
CB Welch
CB Young
CB Lane

CM Densmore
CM Wilkinson

LF Little
CF Johnson
RF Thornley

I reckon that would have been more stable and we could have attacked them with more force. One last thing,I feel we miss Greg Young at centre back, that is his position and he has been immense all season so we should not move him. Anyway at least we gained a point but I feel slightly gutted that game was there for the taking.

Gutted. All I can say is that we gave it all we had against a bunch of soft southern 'rolling about' fairies !!!referee included.....nob !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Formation for the rest of the season and beyond
« on: February 21, 2009, 05:52:10 PM »
I was not at the game today due to work but I was wondering if any thought the same as I do in regards to the 3-5-3 formation. Most know that I hate us sitting back and defending ( mainly away from home ) as we do not often get results playing that way. I feel we defend a lot better having the three centre halves and our two wing backs. We certainly concede last goals playing that way. With the likes of Young, McGregor, Smith or Lane playing the three centre backs then you get organisation and a sold central defence and then you have two fit lads as wing backs being Doughty and Densmore who cover the wings very well. I just feel when we set out as a defensive 4-4-2 like Torquay when we had around 8 really defensive players playing we are inviting pressure from full time teams who do often break us down and then we are left chasing games. With 3-5-3 we clearly defend better and we also worry teams on the attack and also us attacking means less pressure on the defence. People think we would get picked off more but I believe that we wouldn’t, near enough all our results have come from the 3-5-3 formation. I really believe it is our strongest formation in defending and in scoring the goals that get results. I say more faith in our ability.I do still believe 4-4-2 formation is the best in the business but not for how we play.

Altrincham FC First Team / Now the excitement starts, plenty of singing
« on: February 03, 2009, 12:22:00 PM »
Lets hammer the green and white trash. Attack them !!! Lets make it a great atmosphere tonight. I agree with a post earlier this season about it being quiet at some home games. We need to all help the likes of Ecky, Pete and Gary sing. Lets have it !!!! if we are shooting towards the away end lets get in the corner !!!! I think it might be closer due to losing Densmore, Little and Senior so us lot need to get right behind them. Come on ALTY !!!!!
