I cant believe I have typed a sensible post for a change - although that is probably up for opinion.
Sounds eminently sensible to me. Good post.

.....truth is I've said from close season all we've done is improve the squad but the first XI if anything is a little worse than last year without Duncan and losing Williams is a huge blow.

Lee needs to avoid complacency, replace Williams quickly ...otherwise we will continue to ship too many goals whilst our free scoring papers the cracks that we are a play off team at best (and a probable losing play off team at that without the ability to dominate the decent sides)

Agreed.

Unfortunately we don't even have the ability to dominate the poor sides, as demonstrated yesterday. I keep expecting some team to be on the end of a 5-0 thrashing from Alty (and the way we were carving open Oxford and being 2-0 up so early, yesterday should have been that day) but I'm beginning to think that expectation is pie in the sky.

We've played enough bottom half teams already this season without the semblance of a title-winning performance. Perhaps we need to play better quality opposition or be on the receiving end of a drubbing before this team ups its game. Or maybe we are already playing to our capability......

A good win at NFU next Saturday would be a shot in the arm. Fingers crossed.

Wash & Go Brand Manager, Helen Johnson, said, ;............... The brand has a rich heritage in football ???

Really? What small lives these people must live. I guess a museum will be next - entitled from the shampoo's anagram "Wonda sh*g" :o

I recollect Lee Ashcroft engaging in a 'frank exchange of views' with Graham Heathcote on the pitch after our 1-0 FA Cup victory at Kendal Town back in October 2007.

Didn't the Alty team and officials then swiftly depart, leaving behind the post match spread of sandwiches etc...?

I think he expressed a desire that GH would soon be sacked.

If people have a problem and a suggestion how to resolve said problem...................... winging

That's winging?

Let's go the whole hog and email Lee Sinnott on team issues, and Grahame Rowley on club matters, then the forum can be shut down. Result!
Pathetic.

That's great. It fulfills the most important requirements - it's easy on the eye and it works! Just like the original website used to be and the current one is not.

If you're going to add features there's no need to add the sponsors' links for me. By all means add the major links to things like the league table and Alty TV but useability must always come first in any technology-led medium.

Well done and thanks. ;)

An enjoyable 60th Birthday day out (plus I received a cheque for £50 for getting a treble on the Sat Yankee, and It was my first game as a concession)  :D  Wifey still pays full price though (just)  ;)
Is this a same sex marriage? Must be cos Ip didn't think blokes' concessions kicked in until 65.

when i enquired i was told it was 60 for blokes. Sorry to disappoint but a coventional marriage  ;)

Because the age at some clubs is indeed 60 but also because I don't trust the vagaries of the telephone answering personnel at Alty, I emailed Grahame Rowley when I posed the same question. Here is his reply:

Thank you for your enquiry.
After discussing matters with our secretary I can confirm that concessionary age at Altrincham FC mirrors that of the government with relation to pensions ie. 65 for men and 60 for women.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

Grahame

You've done it already. Thank you very much.

I now cannot get the Small Format News at all on my iPhone and, as explained by someone else, it cannot be selected from the drop-down menu under "Home" as it can on the PC. I'm therefore going blind (or is that something else?) :P

So until the new site is made iPhone friendly could Small Format News be put as a link in the new left-hand column please?

cheers

Oldest player to make an appearance: Ian Senior (v Ashton United, 4/10/2004 at the age of 44 years and 3 monthsish - i know his date of birth so that can be calculated)

I always thought Charlie Mitten looked ancient when he took over as player manager in 1961. I now see on Wikipedia that he must have been 40. Funny how 40 year-olds look ancient when you're 13.

I wish I was 40 now....... :'(

Also the contact was with his chest which, tbh makes where he was a little less relevant

I never spotted that he was deformed with a chest on the end of his wrist. Poor sod.... :(
