Title: attendance
Post by: dino on March 13, 2010, 08:11:54 PM
there was nothing "awful" about todays attendance. we r very very lucky getting 800 home supporters.today was a typical example, 1 up front and not 1 shot on target.there keeper didnt have 1 thing to do. if you think people will pay £13 for that , dream on

One up front?? senior and little =2,     senior and moyo =2. as in the old mathematical formula 1+1 = 2.

The BBC also say we had 2 (two) shots on target. so more than zero. Again Dino, you may need to go back to infant school and learn how to count. two is more than zero, and 1+1 actually does equal two.

As for the attendance, we should be doing much better. This is our best season for a long time, but people do not have as much money to spend on leisure activities. We also have the Ice hockey which is nearly selling out for their home games. Perhaps we could again look into cross promotion activities, and further council support.

That is all.

The name is too similar, the maths prowess says it all....  Dino Saunders!!

Dino - what would your suggestions be to get more people into the ground?

There lays the million pound question..  I shouldnt expect an answer off Dino as he only deals in negatives.

Suggestion: don't do it then. Although sounds like you weren't at the game today.

If you've been a fan for 47 years or whatever you said I love to seen your reaction after some of the sh*t I have seen.

Did you come during the Stan Allan or Paul Rowlands era?

If you are so downbeat about what is technically our best season for many years, what would you have been like then?

I think Dino is right why don't we go full time and get into massive debt and go under like do many that have fallen already

then we would just have the grass to watch while it grows

Dino you would be better going elswhere as you seem so unhappy at moss lane

Have you ever considered counselling it may do wonders for you

the first step is admitting you have a problem

Can i just point out all things considered this season has been great!
Best league position in years (even with injury hit side).
We're on a 4 match unbeaten run   :D
Now is the time we should be promoting the club, focus on the positives to attract new fans and move the club forward!

If Dino's spelling is as good as his Maths (1+1=0) then his name is an anagram of no id(ea). Or maybe no id is more appropriate.

The attendance was a lot less than most people expected. I don't think it is because of the performance, more likely to be due to the position the club are in. With no chance of promotion and even less chance of relegation the floaters see the season as over. People won't pay £13 to watch a meaningless end of season game.

I do a round trip of 130 miles, and usually drag my two boys with me. I would gladly do this season after season if it were to be as succesful as this one.

This isn't championship manager FFS, the team picked itself today !

Maybe throw in £50,000 Dino and we'll sign Michael Gash ? - Hmmm !!

Dino, seriously, why don't you just 'do a gunners' and stop coming on here? You really don't seem to enjoy being an Alty fan one bit.

Come on Dino answer Ecky's question ?, it's a fair point!!.

Yes, we might not always be happy about everything that goes on, but we have watched some utter sh*te over the years, and it's easy to forget that.

I think at the end of the day you just hate GH and even if we won the CHampions League, you would find fault.
I am not GH''s biggest fan, but I respect what has has done with this team and where we are at present.

I seem to recall that it was Ecky who raised a salient point re. our attendances on here a few weeks ago.

The Alty regulars, who understand the situation at the club, know that we are having a good season.

We recognise that the team virtually picked itself yesterday and a 0-0 draw against potential play-off contenders was a commendable result under the circumstances.

We will be back again on Tuesday evening for the visit of Kettering.

However, any 'outsiders' attending yesterday's match, who don't immerse themselves in the events at Moss Lane, would not necessarily have been impressed by a team that was compelled to defend for the majority of the game and who failed to manage even a single shot on target.

They will stay at home and watch Chelsea v Inter Milan on Tuesday evening.

Why not kick off at 5pm, open the bar at 4pm and offer £5 entry to anyone arriving before 4.15pm. Keep the bar open for the Chelsea game after the match and give a free raffle ticket with every pint. The raffle could be drawn at the next home game so people have to come back. The prizes could be things people want but would not cost the club much, maybe signed photo's, money off vouchers, free coach travel, stadium tours etc

Kicking off at 5pm would result in a gate of around 350. Most people will just be leaving work, including I'd say some of the players!

Not a bad idea. But i bet some of OUR players wouldnt be able to get here for 4, having full time jobs and all that....

maybe we need to look into moving the times around a bit for next season. Friday evening / Sunday football anyone??

Not just about the players but what about the staff who all have other jobs as well.

Daft idea.....5pm.........do you not realise some people work and some have an hours drive to get here too......hence why no other club has bothered either

i think friday night games is a great idea that could be worth a shot, we could try a couple (if the away teams are happy) an see what the attendances are, but like said on earlier posts will it work if we just carnt afford to advertise it.
Title: Re: attendance
Post by: Mick on March 14, 2010, 08:01:10 PM
Friday is no good either.....it's when a lot of people either go out to the pub, go for a meal or just want to sit and relax at home after a week at work. I am sure I speak for many when I say night football is most definately something people want midweek. I think it would severely affect away support too.

In any case what would Friday be a substitute for.....the Tuesday game - if so how could we then compete on a Saturday. Or is the Friday a substitute for the Saturday game ?

Think again....Friday night might be ok for schoolboys and OAPs, but for most, I doubt it would be popular and would see a drop in attendances

Football is at 3pm Saturday, and that's it, if you want it live. Then again it's Tuesday/Wednesday, 7:45 or 8:00.The game is messed about by TV enough, so leave kick off times as always.

I hate the current TV regime, dictating when we watch our game.

yeh maybe, accrington did it a few weeks ago when they were in the sh*t, but with alty it probly wouldnt work, last season ithink, we had a few sunday games an the attendances were good.

As soon as Clive bangs in a hattrick on Tuesday and word gets round about the Black Rooney, then the crowds will swell. By the last game of the season 2500+

Excluding Witton in the CSC and the FA Trophy replay v Wrexham we have played five home league games on Tuesday's this season with an average attendance of 746. The Chelsea v Inter game is on the same night so I'm thinking we'll do well to pull in 700. I'm sure those present will roar the team onto a great win!
