« on: August 06, 2009, 09:21:02 AM »

Anyone know how they are getting on ?

To show what Altrincham are up against I got an email from Luton Town FC Comercial saying that they have sold over 4,000 season tickets for this season !!

I asked this a while back and nobody seemed to have the answer. Odd.

I think Ecky said they never get past 500 though...

I overheard some one saying that season ticket sales are down this year, but that could have been at any club not alty as I didnt hear all the conversation, just assumed they were talking about Alty.

Have you got one?  Alot of peole are struggling financially at the moment and can't afford to lay out nearly 200 quid in one go.

.... the club offer the facility of paying by instalments though

I bought one for the first time since 95-96 season

If you say our core support is around the 1000 mark, I dont think 200 is that bad, plus the club make more money from the people that pay on turnstiles on day as a season ticket works out at £8 a game, gate is £13.

Exactly, paying in installments means you don't have to take the hit all in one go.

And yes, I do have one.

I think you still have to have paid in full by the start of the season though which isn't always possible for alot of people. I agree though that 200 isn't too bad considering our average home support.

I go virtually every game home and away and have never bought a season ticket, some clubs use season tickets sales as a willy waving exercise. Our crowds have increased year on year in recent times.

We  pay game by game. and I go to all the home games, even the CSC etc I would need to find the money for two tickets as the wifey goes as well.. I know the club gets more money off us over the season by doing it this way but it suits me best financially in that I dont have to find a wad of cash all at once...

if I take into account the fuel getting there and back, something to eat and drink and prog etc it prob costs me about 55 quid a game..

But i enjoy it except when we play sh*t  ;)

I also have joined the Patron scheme and the Yankee

Season tickets are a useful tool for bigger clubs as large sales early season can provide a useful war chest. For supporters they are a risk, Alty seem to be an exception, but at many clubs you miss 3 games or so and you are down on the deal. Who can guarantee their availability 10 months ahead? Ok for clubs that sell out you get priority too but not many at our level do.

Whereabouts do you travel from ?

Shrewsbury.. its about a 130 mile round trip.  I am an Alty lad though Urban Drive... but left in 69 when I joined the Army.. Always been an Alty fan. Watched Shrewsbury for two seasons but could never take to them... (they have an excellent stadium now) but parking is a pain in the arse.

We intend to go to a few away games this season. (when I get a tom tom ... The wife's map reading isnt great and murder could be committed before we got there)  :D

Kidderminster or Wrexham is the nearest BSP team to me and Telford BSP North  is 20 mins up the road.

I was one of the first to collect mine and i was told 215  had been sold then, so it must be more than that by now.
