"It was just two world class players going for a 50/50 ball."

John King's description of a crunching tackle on Ossie Ardiles in the FA Cup Third Round tie at White Hart Lane: 10th January 1979.

Masked by the liner who had a perfect view. Looks like a fair red to me, from what can be seen

Looks fair enough to me,a clear swing of the elbow right in front of the liner.

If think if you watch carefully Brooksby has hold of Newby's arm, and as he attempts to wrestle it free he clearly makes contact with the BPA man's face, perhaps with his elbow. Lino has no option but to recommend a red to the ref. To my eyes it wasn't a pre-meditated "I'm lining you up" for this. Brooksby went down as per the proverbial sniper in the stand and was up and running free 30 secs after the incident but that's standard. Given it was a really important relegation game for them it was a professional bit of gamesmanship which ultimately got them the 3 points. Lesson learned for Elliot, just as well it wasn't crucial to our survival.

Absolute crap. That's the real cancer in the game.  Reminds me why i prefer watching Sale Sharks.
