Points deductions - Austrian style!
« on: March 29, 2007, 07:50:51 PM »

Given what's been going on with points deductions and potential points deductions in England, you should see how the Austrians deal with things...all is explained here:

http://www.soccerway.com/news/2007/March/26/austrian-league-slaps-massive-penalties-on-graz-ak-sturm-graz/

Nothing to do with ineligible players, but dodgy finances. Graz (the Crawley Town of the Austrian league) have in total lost 28pts now and Sturm 13pts - quite right in my book as it sends out the right message to all the other clubs. It has however had the side-effect of relieving both Vienna clubs free of a relegation battle (they're actually in with a shout of a UEFA Cup place, and maybe even Champions League Qualification), and some are claiming bias as the Austrian FA is based in Vienna.

Incidentally, there have been a couple of situations with players lacking international clearance - they appear to penalise clubs with a one point penalty for this. The punishments seem to make a lot more sense, just a pity they play crap football  ;)

Ok Vienna, only just registered on here, where you been?! That's the way to do it, no messing. I'm still of the mindset that 1 Conference club (here's a clue, they are right by a big airport in the south east) will get relegated regardless of were they finish on 28th April.

See you at Tamworth anyway, part time bastard ;D
