I can't believe Ipswich are gonna be looking in non league for their first year in the premier league. That one sounded made up from the off to be honest

2
And so it begins! 😉
I think he can do better than Posh though actually although, as the article says, they have a lot of previous as regards buying players from non-league and developing them further.
With this belief in mind I thought I'd do a deeper dive. Since 2020 The Posh have signed ~10 players from NL.

Frazer Blake-Tracy - CB - Kings Lynn
31 apps for Posh over 2 seasons, now at Swindon in L2

Joe Tomlinson - LB - Eastleigh
17 Apps over 3 seasons, now at MK D*ns in L2

Joe Taylor - ST - Kings Lynn
17 Apps (0 goals), Now with Luton but loaned to Colchester & Lincoln this season.

Serhat Taşdemir - RM - Fylde
20 Apps, Now in Turkey 2 div

Jack Taylor - CM - Barnet
137 Apps, Now with Ipswich (3x ROI on transfer)

Ephron Mason-Clark - LW - Barnet
102 Apps (29 Goals), Now with Cov (5x ROI)

Emmanuel Fernandez - CB/RB - Ramsgate
19 Apps, still with club, loaned back to NL

Kabongo Tshimanga - CF - Chesterfield
13 Apps (0 Goals), Loaned to Boreham Wood, now transfer listed at Posh

This tells me their record is less than stellar but that they are also ruthless when it doesn't work out. If I was Chris I'd be looking at this info and looking for a better landing spot.

If the Swansea rumours were ever true that would be top of my list. Big club and a great manager with a great system.

Bloody huge boots to fill.

Name another DoF at our level or above that is so qualified via their success and career.

Overseen everything good that has happened. From Getting back to NL, going full time, the immense quality of player signings, play off football.

This summer we're fine, the wheels will be well in motion already. Jan onwards though I'm concerned a little more than I was yesterday.

500K would be unbelievable. I think (should CCC leave) it'll be nearer the Stokes fee tbh but I hope you are right. Do I think Fleetwood would have been stupid? Yes 🤣

Whatever happens, I just hope it's done quickly (and undisclosed) so the club know where they stand.
Fleetwood are getting money because of his age. They will have done % deal though it's almost a standard feature of lower league transfers. See us getting some money for signing and never playing Berry. We'll do the same with Chris when we sell him I'm certain. We know from Watmore though that doesn't always work out so well.

Stokes went for over 300 all in I think and he came with a wage free loan back. so that's 500k in value surely. We've gotta hope it gets bidding war silly to push to the higher end. Which as has been mentioned might come with the social media frenzy.

Again, correct me if I'm wrong (and I very well could be!) but I'm not sure age comes into it - Fleetwood agreed a transfer with us, of their own free will, for a player that was under contract with them. How well they negotiated in terms of sell-on % is up to them.
Age does I believe for players under 23 that have been trained by an academy there is a fixed solidarity percentage around 5%. This will mean Burnley and Fleetwood profit. We got the same when Dan Mooney left for his sojourn to the world of big crowds and small squads.

The owner of the club does not do the contract administration either. It would be negligent of an employee to just not bother with an industry standard clause.

We'll owe around 20-25% is my guess to Fleetwood (& Burnley to a lesser extent). With similar percentages negotiated in with the sale price when we are negotiating. Remember this clause is free money to all selling parties involved. It's an easy sweetener on a player you rate.

Dan Mooney was out of contract though - I thought it was to protect clubs who had developed a young player only to lose them for absolutely nothing?

I agree that I'd be amazed if the industry standard clause isn't in there - out of a £250k fee for argument's sake, I suspect at least £50k would go to Fleetwood.

Burnley chose to release him, I don't think they'd get a penny otherwise it would be carnage up and down the pyramid. I'm sure the acid test is demonstrating that you put your own contract on the table.
There are two rules. The one we were able to take advantage of as a out of contract player with Mooney, then the training solidarity fee which is where we'd need to share some cash in a sale situation to all parties involved in their development.

I know of this due to FM but it is real :) they might not know the actual wages/real player ratings etc. but they do have the rules to hand.

My ideal schedule good level of competition scatter in some other trialist and fitness opponents if we wish.

Fleetwood (home)
Trafford (away)
Crewe (home)
Stockport (away)
Nijmegen (home)

Local teams with no rivalries plus what I hope promises me a "home" game every two years.

If we fancied making it a tour one year with a trip to Amsterdamsche FC and Vollendam included it would be very fun for me ;)

Lots of very strong right backs from this league are  available this summer - Tylor Golden from Halifax, James Clarke from Solihull (who is from the North West) and Connor Barrett from Fylde - although I think they'd have been more realistic if we'd have gone up and it's not a huge priority position unless someone is presented to us that we simply can't refuse.

Add Jeff King to this list...
I'm a believer that the King name is sacred here and he should come just because of that.

My concern is he's a demon going forward but is his defence as strong as we need it to be?

Nah, imagine being the best goalkeeper in the world (source:daddy) and then being released by Macclesfield in a regional farm league.

JL site says "12 months after arriving on a free"...

I thought we paid a club record fee for him?
We did, around 30k I believe. What a bargain.

Hancox going tells me we are signing Croasdale, that's all it can mean. Stop it, I'm right ok.

I've just been past the ground. It is totally dug up.

Have they just took the top few inches off as per normal?  or have they gone deeper this time
Pretty sure it's a light skim rather than a deep dig overall. It would make sense there might be some deeper bits dug to investigate issues though.

Yes. I'd much rather Worthing came up. Braintree will not have changed a lot - probably still focused on hoofball, dark arts and sh*housing.
Worthing is an all around good story. From George the owner ploughing his injury settlement in to the club to give him something to spend his days doing. To the football they are playing on the pitch even after they had Hinsh robbed from them by York.

Also, Danny Cashman has been tearing it up for them the second half of this season alongside the best goal scorer in the NL with Ollie Pearce.

We're basically praying they don't get brexit balled by Braintree. It's best attack vs best defence.

Bromley will be back in National League within 3 years - and with a grass pitch. Hopefully we'll pass them on their way down, or sooner.

What we DON'T want is loan players who aren't starting games. Sonny Aljofree? Did he ever so much as train with us?
That isn't a loan in the normal sense of the word. And if Utd have another Oyedele for us to borrow we'll take the odd Aljofree deal's in the mix. They are all free after all.
