Altrincham FC First Team / Re: I come in Peace

Happy new year.

However a random date in the timeline of our time on this planet will not change anything.

2017 will be as sh*t as 2016 unless there are major changes.

Let it be known I am bored sh*tless with the attitude that people are irreplaceable.

I hazard that 99% of us are fully replaceable in our jobs.

Pray tell what is so special about Altrincham Football Club?

I can't believe I'm embarrassed to mention Alty.

This is more than a crap team.

They'll still be people sat around with their heads up their arses though.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The Board
« on: December 19, 2016, 03:40:36 PM »
When will fans admit the issue is with the Board, they continually show thier inability  to run a football club.

Ok, you’re really starting to annoy me now.
We have a new management team who have barely warmed the seat and you’re already harping on that it’s the Board’s fault we lost. If the Board were forcing the managers to play a set team/formation or if the Board were actually playing in the match then yes, I can understand your point.
But come on! You’ve more of a one-track mind than an adolescent teenage boy who has just discovered some of the more “adult” sections of the internet.
Get a grip!
And Ginrail, Spazzy Paddy, Tuna (or whatever your name is this week) and all the others who seem intent on blaming the Board for everything wrong with the world, from the war in Syria to the rise of Donald Trump, how about offering constructive criticism as opposed to just criticism.
Maybe start with who you would put in charge of the first team, and how you would find the budget to do that. You can then move on to who you would replace the Board with and how you would attract those people.
We can all criticise but unless you offer a viable alternative then you’re adding nothing but f-ing misery to the situation and, quite frankly, you’re beginning to pi55 me off!

You've tried to say people are over reacting by over reacting.

Was Slough away on a night game towards the end of that season? A bizarre game, attended by Alty, Slough, Barnet and Wycombe fans.

Oh yes!

The key games in that final week of the season were:-

Saturday: Barnet 3 Welling United 2
Sunday: Stafford Rangers 2 Altrincham 1
Monday: Wycombe Wanderers 1 Barnet 3....this game looked dodgy.
Tuesday: Slough Town 3 Altrincham 3....this game was dodgy.
Thursday: Altrincham 0 Northwich Victoria 2
Saturday: Altrincham 1 Boston United 1

Nurse!!!!!!

I took two days sick off work (one always looks dodgy) to drive down from Hull for that Slough game. There were more Barnet fans than Slough fans......awful memories.

Strange to think the number of people there that day that I now know that I didn't then.

I dont think boycotting games will help.

But as its a free country each to their own

Maybe if you are just wandering down there but when it's setting you back between 9 and 24 hours at £75-£150 per game then enough is enough.

Against my better judgement, I turned up for another 90 mins of masochism today. Not again. Please join me in boycotting until Rowley has gone.

Started mine weeks ago

I'm wary of being too critical to a group of people I do get along with, or at least have done. Neither do I want to be two faced in that regard. However, I support the football club, not whoever happens to be in charge at the time. And believe it or not, a few who appear overly personal about it (Jamie for one) are actually on the level about it too.

I'd say that for a variety of reasons over the past 18 months which are now actually too many to list and it doesn't feel like it does any good listing them anyway that from a footballing, community (as in understanding and relating to fans, not the local community), financial and long term planning viewpoint I have little or no confidence that our current board are capable of leading us forward effectively.

And even taking away that you can't rewrite history or undo decisions etc I don't even see any honesty, accountability , apologies or understanding that could ease some of these fears, just a closing of ranks and a dismissive attitude - which I should say is in many respects an understandable natural reaction - for all that I'm typing here I couldn't promise you I'd be a big enough man to react as I've suggested if I was to get the flak Grahame Rowley has.

Re the above - the one bit I do acknowledge is the board not using the Anthony Griffith farce as an excuse, that was good.

But Grahame's response last year that the way ahead was to get more volunteers and looking back wistfully at when we did have lots, showed me that the time has come to move forward, times do change even though lots of good work has been done and I hope our board individually and collectively are honest enough to evaluate whether they should be part of taking the club forward.

It feels like I've been putting money in buckets for 15 years (75% of my adult life) and there needs to be coherent reasons for that.

I've got to agree with everything here.

I like my spare time to not include politics and personal comments and judgments. However it has got to a tipping point I'm afraid.

Football is a business and it would be great if the fans who choose not to get involved can be insulated from it however it has seeped through to all of us now.

I can't believe I would ever be saying I'm not coming again, in the past I have moved mountains to watch Alty even to the detriment of my marriage.

I can't continue with this, even up against the odds in the past with a 1% chance of a draw I would still go, this just feels more than that.

I appreciate most of the concern was probably about the repair of what's happened with the team but did anyone ask how much is still owing on the community centre and when at the current rate of income it is likely to be paid off?

I think the hall is a great asset but wonder how long it will be before its actually putting money into the club.

Happy to be corrected but I don't think it's a case of paying off the CSH then all profit goes into the playing side.

It's all very well saying put things behind you and get on with it.

However it does feel like getting a penalty fare on the train for a genuine mistake but when the train operator makes a mistake they get off with nothing.

I think a large number of people think there were several major errors and for speaking up we get ridiculed in the national press and are supposed to tip the cap and carry on regardless.

Not saying it isn't possible but there is a line in the sand, where that line is differs from club to club and on situation to situation

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: I'll probably get castigated for this
« on: September 14, 2016, 11:05:14 PM »
However, as I sit here in work 5 hours after getting back from Nuneaton I'll say it anyway.

This is easily the biggest on pitch Crisis at the club in 30 years. As it stands we are 5 points adrift and those directly above us have a game in hand, and we face the prospect of exiting the FA cup at the first hurdle on Saturday when we desperately need to progress for finance reasons if nothing else.

There's been a succession of poor decisions that have led us to this point. We've won 13 league games in 71 and are in real danager of dropping through to the evostick league. People are angry, upset, fed up with it all, losing interest and losing faith.

If we are to stand any chance of getting through this we really are going to have to come together. We need to put arguements, blame, accusations, anger and negativity to one side and that means from the top of the club down to the bottom. We need a siege mentality, and we need it quickly.

I realise there will probably be a host of negative and jocular responses to this, but this is about preservation of OUR football club, we aren't big enough to get through this so badly fractured. We need the club to make a statement saying that the manager will get the backing he needs to turn things around and that bucket collections for now will be diverted in full to a transfer fund and I'm sure that will be responded to by supporters, we need football cards and whatever other quick money raising avenues there are, solely for the benefit of the team. and we need everyone to get to moss lane on Saturday as its a game we really cannot afford to lose, so get down and back the lads, it's are only way out of this

The siege mentality needs to be embraced immediately, stand together, fight together. We're all Alty aren't we?

They don't want our help.

Despite the need for it to happen, I simply don't foresee the fans and club tackling this hand in hand. For the best part of two years, supporters have been "coming together" despite on pitch proceedings being utterly depressing. Not once have I seen any show of solidarity from "the club." Nothing of note anyway. I simply can't see how that will change now.

The last time I saw the fans mentioned was the latest NLP article. It tarred us all with the same brush, whether it was designed to or not.

If things change for the better, it will be a job well done by the board and we will have simply been spectators for it all.

If things stay the same we'll be lucky to get an apology.

EDIT: And while I'm here, if they do ask us supporters to finance this mess then its an absolute embarrassment. We can't be expected to do more than we're already doing, going home and away to watch this shambles. Stop relying on us for a quick and easy fix, and start working on attracting real investment. The potential is there. I don't know how many times Jack Jolly needs to go over it.

It might be worth mentioning that it all started falling apart last season as soon as the fans started turning.

Just saying.

I've heard it all now.

Just saying....
