Change to Pre-Season Schedule
« on: June 23, 2011, 09:33:32 AM »

Whilst the Laidlarmeister is away, the following is being communicated via this forum:-

The pre-season game at Woodley Sports, scheduled for Tuesday July 12th, has been cancelled.

When new manager, Lee Sinnott, joined the club last month, he believed that the pre-season schedule was balanced too heavily in terms of matches versus training time &  he has been looking at options to redress this during the last few weeks, without reducing the number of home pre-season games. The outcome of this is that the Woodley game has now been cancelled.

This means that Altrincham now have seven friendlies scheduled, five of which are at Moss Lane.

Good news in my opinion, these games were always used to look at the big number of trialists. We have the core of the squad already in place,so we have to ask, what would we actually learn from this game,on a dreaded 3G surface? Any trialists they want to look at will be better off being seen against buxton, barrow or stockport all decent tests.Holsgrove looked like messi against tranmeres kids last preseason and we all know how that turned out.

was targeting this as my first game to drive to...just failed again though, so nevermind!

glad we won't be playing on the dangerous pitch...

I think Woodley are having real problems with the pitch there..maybe playing on greengrocers grass is not all its cracked up to be.

Due to the hours of football played on these types of pitch, if they are not maintained properly, they lose their bouncability. Woodley Sports only just got re-elected due to pitch problems.
