The Sale & Altrincham Messenger reports that "Graham Heathcote is delighted by the commitment shown by his squad after seeing a big turnout at two voluntary training sessions. The Robins' boss organised the sessions in order to ease players back before preseason officially starts on Saturday. And Thursday night's session saw 21 players turn up, including a couple of possible signings. Also among the number was Colin Potts (right), who is hoping to prove his fitness to Heathcote in order to earn a move back to Moss Lane. An announcement on the arrival of Alty's key midfield target has been delayed until Saturday at the earliest but the Alty manager will also be speaking to a winger on Sunday as he looks to add to his squad. The Alty manager said: 'We had 21 down at the second voluntary training session so I was pleased with that, it's a good start. The deal with our midfield target has not quite been completed yet but I'm still positive about it. I will be speaking to a wide man on Sunday but, to be fair, Colin Potts has also looked good in training so far. He's improved his fitness quite a bit'".
I like the sound of a wide man - how wide will he have to be to stop people getting around him?
