At long last, some good news and a glimmer of hope.

Congratulations, Bill.

Some positive news. Good luck to him and the board.

Who did he purchase the shares from?

Looking forward to what the review says.

Welcome Bill. Finally.

He said some very interesting things in the media last April when he first publically announced he wanted to join the board.

"We have got to look at the way we run things and perhaps tweak the way some of it is done."

"We need to find people who can contribute similar amounts."

"My great hope is it will prove a catalyst for getting others involved…perhaps even investments."

"If we can tweak the business model here, so people can see there are better opportunities for their money to make a difference, they are more likely to want to do it."

"I think Altrincham FC, as it stands, is exactly one of those balance points where what has worked in the past is no longer sufficient to work in the future, so a few tweaks need to be made to the business model".

Let’s hope he comes onto the board still carrying the same enthusiasm for reversing the dreadful damage done to our football club by the current chairman.

It's time to get “tweaking” Bill…

Well done and  congratulations to Bill. A genuine supporter, who wants to repair relationships between the board and supporters.

Thank you everyone - it makes me so proud to be on the board of the greatest non league giant killer - and my hope is to help add to that reputation over the coming years.

New and recent fans have had Wilkinson 121 and Barnsley to add to the mix, and a "so nearly" memory at Colchester.  This needs to be just the start.

Good luck to Bill, bit he's got a big job on his hands. Getting a proper manager in and persuading the Chairman to step down would be one way of building bridges with the fans.

Good luck Bill......I like what you said about encouraging new investment.

I hope your first step will not be to slate the fans on social media..... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Serious question : will Bill still be allowed by his new board colleagues to post on here ? I don't know him personally but have always respected his input.

This for me doesnt change or paper over the cracks of the issues that we have as a club. However, one thing Bill has said is he's going to be looking at club communication - which is what's caused a lot of the issues.

The board would not be as hated if the communication had been better.

60% off the issues at present are non-footballing.

I don't like the idea of the board posting on here this ain't for them its for us

Doesn't change a thing for me either. All that's happened is Bill has replaced Andrew Shaw. Doughty is still manager and Rowley is still Chairman, it'll take more than a few soundbites from Bill to sort this mess out.

This attitude of us and them is the reason why we are in this mess.

Bill is attempting to bridge that gap.

I see no harm in a supporter who has been a regular and informative poster on here retaining their ability to post, especially as it may lead to a better relationship with the fans.

He is also more sensible than other posters who have a lot of insider info and I believe he won't make stupid statements on this forum or other parts of social media which will make the club a laughing stock.

Completely agree. I mean, bear in mind that we have some dumb-assed Macc fan who comes on here from time to time to spread some poison. Why wouldn't we want a fan who is also a board member to contribute what I am sure will be reasoned comments (even if not everybody agrees with all of them)

"hated"......a very strong term....these people run a football club and despite where things are at right now, they have not acted maliciously have they ?

BTW I can count on one hand people in my lifetime who I claim to hate

It's a difficult gap to bridge. It's OK representing officialdom but there's a line you can't cross when the stones are being thrown.

To address some of the points raised above:
- I will continue to post on here, both to inform and share club info where appropriate and to contribute to "what was our biggest win in the month of March historically" kind of threads
- I understand that this is fans forum first and foremost and will always bear that in mind when posting
- I agree a bunch of soundbites alone has no value - and you should only measure us by what we achieve.  I deserve to be badged a failure if I don't make a material difference to our forutnes.
- On communication overall, I want us to get to a situation where fans are informed frequently and accurately - consistently across all channels whether print media, Radio Robins, Alty TV, the forum, Social Media or other.  We have a brilliant communication infrastructure - its time to put it to good use

The last point is a key one a monthly chairmen or key back room staff video is a easy and cheap way to communicate to a wider audience
