Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Radio commentary
« on: September 16, 2023, 09:27:05 PM »
Today we hit a new low. It was bad enough that our commentary team appeared to have been seated in the midst of a primary school picnic, but YET AGAIN Radio Alty cut the commentary bang on 5 o'clock while there was still two minutes of the added time left.

We really need to sort this out - if Radio Alty can't schedule around the vagaries of the match officials, we need to find a better run platform.

Too busy eating pastries perhaps

We need Baines playing to have a chance of a clean sheet.
We can’t survive another season shipping goals can we?

Parky will give out the Battlecry for the visit to Wealdstone.

Wealdstone 1-2 Alty
Con-Clarke & Angus.

Agree with the opinion that Baines is a must pick, if fit.

We’re off to Wealdstone on Saturday via a day at the BMW golf at Wentworth..

We’re long overdue a goal (or2) at Grosvenor Vale.

Just listened to Parkys post match interview. I get where he is coming from apart from the bit where he says he isn’t concerned about conceding goals from corners. I respect you as a manager Phil but you have got to be in the minority of Alty fans if your not concerned about it.

All the above points are relevant, but the bottom line was that we were appalling. Once again we conceded the first goal to a free header in the box, and we were repeatedly cut apart by their passing game (quick and incisive where ours was slow and laboured). We lacked creativity, and I'm sorry to say that we don't look any better on the field than we did two years ago.

I haven't got a magic wand, but somebody needs to find one and wave it PDQ.

You mentioned being quick and incisive Phil. Spot on mate. We take an age to get the ball forward (ie each of the back line have two touches before it goes forward.

I wasn’t there today but listened to bits on radio robins when it worked. From the bits I heard it sadly seems that our biggest problem yet again is the defence leaking goals just as they did last season.
This problem needs sorting out asap otherwise a great start to the season is going to mean nothing.
We do not want this season turning into a copy of last season, there has been lots of talk (myself Included) about development of the ground etc. to do this we have to have a consistent team that will make folks want to come and watch regularly.

I think we should employ a defensive coach as it’s blatantly obvious that the way our defenders are currently coached isn’t working, we have tried most combinations at the back apart from using Baines (arguably our best defender) maybe he isn’t fit but it would be nice if an update on his condition was announced

I think the allotments would be very difficult to procure, and I’m not sure whether or not they have some sort of protection order over them as to what can the land actually be used for. I expect the people who work the allotments would put up a fight if they thought their allotments were under threat.. plus the land wouldn’t come cheap if it was possible to get them,. I think a redeveloped Moss lane ground in its current footprint with the car park to the rear of the popular side would suffice, I can’t see the need to relocate any time soon unless we progressed up the EFL pyramid somewhat. Whatever the progress of our club, the attendance will always be stifled by our two neighbours up the road,

Our defenders need to let the opposition strikers know they are there from the off, with some firm but fair tackles, also if PP insists on keep picking James Jones then he needs to be in the centre of defence not out on the flanks, wingers skin him far too often.

Buying the land, cost of building a stadium, financially it’s never going to happen, with a good design Moss lane could become a more than adequate location for us to comfortably accommodate larger crowds even if we do manage to get into Lge 2 in the future.

Some folks will disagree but in the cold light of day, we are better off staying put IMO.

CCC didn’t turn up today, I would have Hooked CCC for Kossy instead of Angus, we are in need of a couple of fullbacks who can look up and run into space instead of just passing square balls  along the back line far too often. If a midfielder has the ball then the full backs  should be looking for the ball and push up a bit

The second goal for them came about due to us pissing about instead of getting it forward.

Teams this season have sussed us out especially when we dilly dally along the back line then they are ready to pounce.

I agree about our captain needing a break, personally I prefer Cooper to him and I’m amazed that Baines isn’t a regular.

We had a reality check today so we need to dust ourselves down and get set for a difficult trip to Barnet next  week.

As for ref. Poor 3/10
