I bet the pies are crap as well ::)

Just got to the computer after JM scared Heathcote off my lap whilst accusing me of letting a gerilla have a bath!
Looks like a rock solid centre mid again: 1. Stuart COBURN (capt), 2. James SMITH, 4. Marc JOSEPH, 5. Robbie WILLIAMS, 15. Ryan BROWN, 16. Anthony DANYLYK, 19. Mark BEESLEY, 6. Shaun DENSMORE, 7. Robbie LAWTON, 8. Damian REEVES, 17. Wes BAYNES Subs: 21. James COATES, 20. Sam HEWSON, 12. Kevin HOLSGROVE, 11. Nicky CLEE, 9. Michael TWISS.

the commentator sounds a bit like surreal Geordie stand up comedian, Ross Noble
-
3-4-3 formation.
-
Alty faithful in fine voice already :)
-
I wonder if these 2 statements are connected?
"pitch bobbly- Danylyk fires high over bar"
-
Stockport losing at Hereford!
-
Nice to hear we're playing a good passing game and adapting well to the conditions.
-
I wonder if these 2 statements are connected?
"pitch bobbly- Danylyk fires high over bar"
No way - Danyluk doesn't need a bobbly pitch to shoot high over the bar !
-
Bit of free advertising for the Gazelle there! ;)
-
Good commentry this, trying hard with the alty names
-
Name check for the Ghana flag and our "goodly number of traveling fans"
-

Just thinking that, good work so far

AGreed good commentarry so far
-
Indeed. Makes a change from the big time charlie commentators who think their team is above playing Alty.
COME ON ALTY
-
I agree good commentary
-
Sounds like Blyth are having the better chances
-
Indeed. Makes a change from the big time charlie commentators who think their team is above playing Alty.
COME ON ALTY
Mostly we get commentators biased againsy the little part time team from the north of England - Ithink maybe the Blyth commentators may be more sympathetic.

Barrow 1 up against Kiddy :(

Disappointingly, Kettering are winning at Crawley, too.

Sounds like a cracking cup tie.

C'mon Alty
We haven't had a shot at goal yet ?

Why is Joseph hitting free kick when Wes Baynes (renowned for free kick specilism is on the pitch?)
-
Under the cosh here....... :P

I hope we're taking this comp seriously, i want a trip to wembley, and it'd be good for the coffers

From what we've heard so far, I wouldn't hold your beath on a trip to Wembley
-
Jesus! We're playing away from home in a cup tie and it's currently 0-0.
Did people expect us to go there and win at a canter?
-
Beat me to it mate ... Away from home v a lower league club, from the North East in windy conditions...... I'll take 0-0 at half time please ... :)
-
Coburn keeping us in it at the moment
Did you know he's making his 500th appearance - (They've only mentioned it three times so far!)
-
Jesus! We're playing away from home in a cup tie and it's currently 0-0.
Did people expect us to go there and win at a canter?
Exactly, its a Cup tie and we all know they're rarely straightforward!

Come on mate, should be 4 up now, you should know by now

And what murky water it is in your parts..
-
Still plenty of time, get Clee on in the 2nd half. We have the ammo to get the goals we need.
-
AS a text I have just got says "Terrible, They are poor .. we are worse" ... COME ON ALTY ... Kenny work ya magic.
-
HT 1-0
Come on Kenny sort 'em out
Clee on for the second half is a must
-
we need to get more shots on target - only 1 in first half!
-
The last time a non-league side beat top-flight opposition away from home was Altrincham's victory over Birmingham City at St. Andrew's in 1985–86.
Come on boys take inspiration from the history that has already been mentioned that happened on this day.
We can do this.
COME ON REDS.
-
main Alty threat coming from Beesley by sounds of it
-
Need Clee and Hewson on !!! rubbish
-
AS a text I have just got says "Terrible, They are poor .. we are worse" ... COME ON ALTY ... Kenny work ya magic.
The text I received said "Out played, out thought, out fought and a shambles"
-
may i be the first of the afternoon to say squeeky bum time???
:o
-
I've heard enough of 'ohwell, now we can concentrate on the league' over the last few seasons, I want to hear from boys that have gone to the game today that alty fc played their heart out 2nd half. If not i'll be very disappointed.
-
C'MON. Let's celebrate Stuart's milestone match with a win. :) :) :)

Well by the sounds of it, get ready for disappointment
-
Salisbury 1 Wrexham 0 HT (That would be cause for a bigger cheer if we can turn ours round)

Just to balance it out I've had a text saying it's fairly even.
-
Bear in mind this side is realistically 8 places lower than us and playing at home in very windy conditions. It's as though they are miles below us in the pyramid. They too have a good cup pedigree you ask any Stoke City fan about the FA Cup.
-
may i be the first of the afternoon to say squeeky bum time???
:o
Alright mate. Hows tricks?
You big tease!
-

Quite right.
-
Reet .. 10 mins of POSITIVE thinking from everyone please ...... COME ON ALTY
-
Sounds like the conditions are our biggest difficulty: "Alty not playing well; can't keep ball or their feet"
-
may i be the first of the afternoon to say squeeky bum time???
:o
Alright mate. Hows tricks?
You big tease!
Not bad mate thanks.
Just been reading your story of when we went on that drunken journy for a whopper!!
cant stop laughing!!!
You ok???
-
Blyth fruitcake making odd noises in the main stand!
-
sounds like blyth have their fair share of biscuits
-
Sh*te, just switched on to hear that...strangely this iplayer link is playng across the water
And what murky water it is in your parts..
You don't know the half of it. I'm about to brew a murky mix to sup from the Alty cup...drinking deep for inspiration

What an away trip that wasnt! Happy days!
Not back for a while but we'll manage a pint when I am. Unless youve gone tee-total?

yeah sounds good!!
tea total??? dont make me laugh!!!
-
strange sub that twist for beesley
-
Twiss for Beesley sounds an odd one given what the commentators said in the first half about Beesley looking our biggest threat
-
hewson coming on now
-
hewson coming on now
and smith off
-
Apparently not an injury either.
Hewson for Smith, densmore to RB presumably
-
hewson on for smith, think Lawton was playing hell with smith a minute a go
-
I can see someone like Twiss making a difference in this game - prepare for a Twiss goal!
-
I'm guessing we've reverted to 4-4-2
Coburn
Densmore Williams Joseph Brown
Lawton Danylyk Hewson Baynes
Twiss Reeves
-
Barrow 2-0 up now.
-
Bear in mind this side is realistically 8 places lower than us and playing at home in very windy conditions. It's as though they are miles below us in the pyramid. They too have a good cup pedigree you ask any Stoke City fan about the FA Cup.
Agreed
-
"60 still 1-0 and Alty not creating anything"
Time for Nicky Clee I reckon.
-
Smoke from Fire in alotment behind goal!
-
Wish i could believe in Twiss scoring, but i shan't hold my breath. Come on Alty!
-
I reckon Clee would be on by now if he was fit. Making our third sub with half an hour to go would be risky on a dodgy pitch
-
twiss has shot saved
-
lots of Alty posession now - COMEON ALTY
-
Seems like we're starting to get hold of it.
COME ON ALTY!!!!!
-
Come On Alty
Sounds a bit more encouraging
-
We're still right in this.
Come on Alty!
-
time for a beer i think
-
holsgrove coming on
-
Third sub and no Nicky Clee !
-
Holsgrove on for Danylyk.
Clee definitely not fit then.
-
These commentators are spot on. What are they doing on radio newcastle, compared to some of the rubbish on bbc national.
Whose coming on for Danylyk? Couldnt understand that
-
Holsgrove.

Sounding like we are improving and giving it a go..

0-2 down
-
bloody Brayson ,i hate him
-
Bugger 0-2 !!
Game over
-
BRAYSON ... SHOCK>
-
fab.
-
FFS >:( >:(
-
This will take the mother of all come-backs.
-
NO bloody cup run again....don't count the CSC
-
Worst ever run of no cup runs ever. Im going for a drink
Have a nice evening lads
-
And there goes the prospect of £6,000 prize money disappearing over the horizon.
What on earth are we still doing with Holsgrove in our squad?
-
How costly now is the totally pointless game last Tuesday >:(
-
So it would seem that every time there is a goal at the Glassworld "stadium"; Blythe get a goal.
-
26 scare for alty after Williams error
78 2-0 as Brayson capitalises on Wiliams error from long ball up middle

Hmmmm!
please don't get me started on robbie williams.
-
Shame for poor Stu on his 500th. Alas, our subs were poor, revealing our lack of depth and it's such a pity that Matty Somner left - he was so important for us, Robbie Lawton despite his efforts is just not up to the standard.
At least York and Kiddy have scored.
-
What on earth are we still doing with Holsgrove in our squad?

pretty sure he's not playing for free, rather have them wages on someone else

What I mean is we haven't got the big fat cheque book and bottomless pockets like some.
-
Come on - show some fight
-
C'mon Alty - a draw will be a great result
-
5 minutes ! Not beyond us
-
Sounds like Twiss missed an absolute sitter.
-
Lets see how Somner plays against us at Tamworth on Tuesday???? Reported to be going there on loan as he is not considered good enough at MTFC.
-
There's still time and Blyth are on the back foot now. Come on Alty - prove us all wrong!
-
york ahead - 1 for 1 goals with our game continues
-
Histon losing
-
So it would seem that every time there is a goal at the Glassworld "stadium"; Blythe get a goal.
Told you, York 2-1 up
-
york up 2 - 1
-
I can see it now: we get a corner with seconds remaining. Stu goes up and heads it into the back of the net to score in his 500th appearance!
-
Maybe, just maybe...
-
Lets see how Somner plays against us at Tamworth on Tuesday???? Reported to be going there on loan as he is not considered good enough at MTFC.
or maybe he can be loaned to a club where he knows he will play and he knows the group of players he is playing with...
-
So it would seem that every time there is a goal at the Glassworld "stadium"; Blythe get a goal.
Told you, York 2-1 up
Kicker conspiracy
-
3 mins added time, come on Alty

1 LAST CHANCE...
-
time to concentrate on the league (and CSC) I guess !

fulltime
-
BLOODY RUBBISH >:( >:( >:(
-
same old same old
-
toss :-X
-
Not the CSC.....crap, crap, and more crap
-
yawn
-
bugger. at least we finished strongly which should help us avoid any loss of confidence
-
Williams mistake - goal conceded
Twiss mistake - sitter missed
These 2 are liabilities.
We can't afford to be carrying players like these two as 9 semi decent players can not compete at this level.
-
I seriously despair as to whether we will ever have a decent cup run again...!
-
I think I'll go back to bed!
-
ft at Histon too. at least that didn't go wrong too
-
I seriously despair as to whether we will ever have a decent cup run again...!
There is a tin-pot far away beyond the Cheshire walls
-
bugger. at least we finished strongly which should help us avoid any loss of confidence
We just got outplayed by a team in a lower league and anyway they finished stronger than we did..???
-
No surprises
-
histon lose 2-1 at home to York

I share your gallows humour but I seriously reckon Eastbourne at home far more winnable than an away cup tie at Blythe.
I hope I am right.
-
Our fate is completely in our own hands. Practically all the bottom half sides to play at home, but just one or two key players short - another Somner and a striker from somewhere to partner Reeves.
-

Hear, hear. Unbeaten in the league in 2011
-
we knew it would be a tough game....doesn't sound to me like the players did...neither do i get any sense from cup games that the majority of the players understand the importance of The FA Trophy and the FA Cup to the club or to the fans.
Well done to all who travelled you came through loud and clear.
And well done Blyth, sounds like they deserved it but more importantly, sounds like they wanted it more.
Slight praise for Ken for changing it round...shame we didn't go all out to batter them for the first 20 minutes and gone 3-0 up.
Beats me how we can go to Mansfield and Rushden and win deservedly and then go and lose in a trophy game to go through to the last 16 where anything can happen.....I just get a sense that the majority of our players are focussed on conference survival and treat the cups a lot less seriously.
I'm sick of it and feel very let down by the team time after time in the cup whereas they make me so proud in the league sometimes....as someone said same old same old.
Think I'd have felt just as let down had we got a last minute equaliser....certainly would have felt embarassed that we'd got another underserved chance.
-

Yes, so what's gone wrong today after 2 great away wins?
-
Eastbourne have a replay to play too. Small positives but none the less...
-
Williams wasn't an error. It was a long ball, the 2nd man missed it leaving him one on one with Brayson, he went for the ball and missed. He had no choice.
Twiss wasn't a sitter either, keeper did well.
As much as we love JL don't make all opinions on his one-liners. IMHO anyway.
Right! What do Alty need? An experienced deep-lying midfielder, someone to pick out a pass and see what is happening in front. Our midfield is just too 'workmanlike' and there's no craft.
I think that would do it for us, the rest isn't that bad.
Who? No idea I'm not a scout. Tony Grant maybe? Someone like him, local, experienced etc. Sure the more knowledgeable will know better than I who could do that job.

Admittedly I wasnt there and you obviously were so your comments on this particular game are worth more than mine but I was going off what the commentators said and not JL.
Anyway, i still stand by what I said based on what I have witnessed first hand.
It's a Forum and we're here to disagree and if you think that they're up to the job then that's your opinion and I respect it.
-
Sort the defence out and the team will have solid foundations to build upon. The number of goals conceded is a reflection of our current plight.
-
No problem just saying how I saw it. I see so little of alty but I don't think Robbie is as bad as is made out.
Our defense is ok - Smudger & Robbie are about as good as we can get I'd imagine at our wage level, it's that midfield role I see missing.
Shame Twiss is on a contract - so poor - and Hewson plays like he's never experienced any level of pro football, never mind Utd Reserves.
Roll on Darlo away in March!
-
Love it when so called supporters post on here and tell us all how crap they think players are, when they haven't even been to the game! It's all subjective and everyone has their favorite players :o
Williams score one of the goals that got us into this round...Well we should have been out of the Cup but for a powercut that saved our skins!
He also got us out of the sh*t against Rushden at home in the 89th Minute..Oh he was a hero then wasn't he :P
Think some of you need a reality check sometimes!
Rant Over!

Fair point but having watched Alty for 27 years I know the standard of player needed to compete at this level.
-
So do most of us Stan, but that type of player is generally beyond our budget.

Yes, so what's gone wrong today after 2 great away wins?
A sense of fight?, we've obviously needed points so were up to fight for it - perhaps a slight cockyness about it? - I think its back to our best on tuesday
-
Why is Joseph hitting free kick when Wes Baynes (renowned for free kick specilism is on the pitch?)
A very good point!

Don't be too hard on yourselves, we were good today - as good as we were against Fleetwood. All the best for the rest of the season, hope you avoid relegation.
-

After the last 3 games, it was like watching a different team, today was the first time in quite a while ive gone to an away game confident of not losing ( not due to you, but due to our great performance), Im sure others felt the same. I think thats part of the such annoyance, the contrast is unreal.
Same to you Scode :)
-
and there's not too much quality left in the competition...
-
Don't be too hard on yourselves, we were good today - as good as we were against Fleetwood. All the best for the rest of the season, hope you avoid relegation.
Good luck mate - there's a lot of the big guns gone already, so you could be in with a chance of Wembley. Here's wishing you home draws, and that you avoid Luton ! You appear to have deserved it, and personally I never feel QUITE so bad when my team bows out to the eventual winners.......
-

You are right, Blyth played really well.......a very good all round team effort.
I was particularly impressed with Robert Dale, Stephen Turnbull, Chris Swailes & Paul Brayson, whilst Nicky Deverdics looks to have plenty of talent as well.....when we were beaten 2-0 by Tow Law in the FA Cup in the late eighties, his Dad scored the first goal after about three minutes......I think his name was Frank.
It's clearly completely wide open now in the last 16.....no reason why Spartans can't go all the way!
-
No Wimbledon Wrexham newport grimsby bath or (us)
Replays for Eastbourne and cambridge
