Our last victory at Aggborough?
« on: August 16, 2013, 04:07:47 PM »

Was it really over 19 years ago?

I think that it occurred on 7th May 1994, the final fixture of the 1993/94 season.

A Stuart Terry goal secured a a 1-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers, who were the Conference Champions that season.

Plus it's been five seasons since the Robins won on the opening day of the league campaign (9th August 2008: a 2-1 triumph at Woking courtesy of Alex Meechan and Colin Little's superb goal after 90+1 minutes).

Let's hope that we end both of those sequences against Worcester City tomorrow.

It was Copperfieldesque. What an odd incident that was.

Never seen so many normally reserved people get their size 10s involved.

We do also, if I remember rightly, have an opening day victory at Aggborough to our name.

Start of the 92-93 season, Gerry Quinn's first game in charge. A Ricky Harris goal (just before half time?) gives us a one nil win.

We also have quite a record of having players sent off there for handball and losing heavily. I can think of 3...

The Heesom one in the 5-0? cup game sticks in my memory most.

James Smith was sent off in the same game that Piergianni received his red card.

There were subsequent unsavoury allegations of racist language being used by Smith, as I recall.

Didn't Chris Lane get sent off for handball on the line in. 4-0 defeat? It was the most blatant non handball ever.

Sticks out in my mind for, despite being 4-0 down, singing "We can see you sneaking out" at the Kiddy fans.
