The £5 million figure didn’t say it was annual. I assume we’d need to commit to a three year minimum period of full time to attract people so a £5 m investment would be in the ball park people are talking about above and we could then see if we could make it sustainable from there based on the hopefully bigger crowds and better league position / profile we had established

I'd expect us to be a football league club with a 5 million pound pot.

Money attracts money.

Agree with above but a long term investor(s) might not happen anytime soon so let's make the difference now.

The club will welcome and snap the hands of the right people. I ain't going to mention who said it to me but I was told that Alty would need a starting platform of 5 million to go full time and compete.

Is that realistic.......? I very much doubt it, unless we are very lucky. Would they even be the right sort of people.

We are making the right steps and if people give that little bit more than maybe we can go the next step and attract the right investment.

I guarantee we wouldn't need 5 million to go full time and compete.

I don't think 15 out of 24 clubs in the league above have 5 million (putting us midtable and maybe able to put a run together.

30 salaried employees at 50k  and a 1 million for other costs would put us half of that.

I sent Lawrence this https://fundraising.darlingtonfcsupportersgroup.org/pitches/boost-the-budget-19-20 when I first posted about a digital patreom scheme. There was initial interest from his end and I hoped we might see something similar post-board meeting.

Darlington have managed to put in an extra 2500 in a week into their wage budget. That's via just 405 fans.

None of those items cost money but add value.

The club talk endless about bringing money but don't seem to want to provide value for it. Not commercial value either.

One day the club will be able to Leverage emotional value for financial clout without emotional blackmail or begging and then we might have a chance to play with the big boys.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Altrincham FC Board Planning Day
« on: June 17, 2019, 01:37:44 PM »
1. What happened to Sports Business - are we still engaged with them, and if not, do we have a plan to replace their seeking of investment?
2. When is tender happening for the following areas of the club:

- Fan Catering
- Hospitality / Corp. catering
- Beer
- Kit

3. Are we planning to consider updating the Sponsors Lounge or make better use of the Vice President Suite.

4. What plans do we have to unify the club's branding across CSH, Youth, Ladies, Mens, Stadium signage, print, digital?

On the subject of brand, what are plans to move this forwards as we seek to be more professional?

I would like us to consider what we stand for as a football club, and use that to unify our branding. This should help us land more investment for sponsors - such as Footy Accumulators - as they will be able to align with our core values. For Example, FGR have Quorn, a marine conversation company and Swiss investment arm who only invest in Green companies.

5. What are the plans to improve our visibility in the town centre? Do we have plans for any visual posters, artwork, or signage, similar to Manchester Storm's signage outside The Station pub..

6. What is the plan with charity kits for this season? Being the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, an armed-forces charity might be appropriate.

So Rowley's a bit of a d1ck, granted.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a football club out there where everyone was likeable from top to bottom.

Also, how can you apportion the blame of previous decisions solely on him, and yet say the appointment of Phil and Neil was a 'board decision'? You can't have it both ways.

I'd prefer to focus on how our 'fall from grace' has led to our revamp across a lot of areas, not least the way we market ourselves - which has been nothing short of astonishing.

But yes, each to their own.

The probably with our football club is we're suffering first world problems. If we had proper problems, we'd see real change.

Yes, Jack, but to drive people to the website and bring something to their attention, it has to be on the website first. I may be the least technophile person you're likely to meet, as I just said to Ray, but I do acknowledge the growing importance and significance of social media and I do appreciate and admire the expertise of those who turn their hand to it on the club's behalf.

Hi John

You may have missed my point that actually supports your requirement for news to be on the website.

Website is a place we own (and we are the only benefectors) so media should always drive attention awareness to there for the full story.

Just like alyour forum posts tell us when to go the website for an article, social media should give a small snippet to drive people to find the story on the website

For the above to work the story has to be on the website or there’s no point in sending there.

I have always argued, and will continue to, that the club's website should be the first port of call for any announcement, Ray. So, don't worry, even if it is decided a news item should be coordinated, it will be on the website. We're clearly of a similar era..

Social Media should always drive to people the website, just like your forum posts (which I really like btw.) when something is on the website do.

Always thought we should be using Patreons online service whereby fans make a regular contribution to Phil via the Patatreons platform.

In return different levels of regular donation access different outcomes

Something I hope the club seriously consider. £10 a month confirmed for 12 months surely is better than £50 upfront

liked the sticker book, can we do top trumps this year?

We've actually been discussing Top Robins for a while

We've got a great squad that doesn't need much tweaking. I agree with an earlier post about Williams - tidy and industrious but doesn't power forward in the way that, say, Richman does. I don't think he quite suits our style of play. TT will doubtless start as number one next season given his end of season form and I wouldn't be surprised to see Drench leave. I'd like to see a permanent left winger rather than a succession of loans, no matter how successful they have been. Also, as much as I like JJ, a winger who can cross accurately and consistently would be good!

Thoroughly enjoyed this season and its brilliant to see the buzz about the place again with supporters old and new really buying into the club. My thanks to all involved, can't wait till next season.

Paul

For me the main hope is just to keep what we have.

Yes it's important not to get ahead of ourselves, the sooner we do that 'advent calendar' thing with the players we've signed on for next season, the better!

I do think Sean Williams has been underrated this season, his stats for Warrington show he can probably get further up the pitch if he wanted to, and I'm sure Parky is working on that.

It was a sticker book.

Good Lord... I can understand people being upset about it in the moment but in the cold light of day, it's a red card. The fact he didn't make contact with the player is neither here nor there. You can't go into challenges like that anymore. We see red cards for that type of challenge all the time and not to acknowledge that that was a sending off offence suggests a one-eyedness that I thought we were above.

Great effort yesterday. We defended brilliantly and that has been our weak point this season. I absolutely think we should aim to win this league next season.

The away support yesterday was magnificent and also, as a man of a certain age, it felt like the baton of vocal support has been well and truly handed on to the next generation. I barely recognised anyone in that away end but it was packed with passionate and committed Alty fans. That has to be a good thing.

This time last year, for all the success, the club felt hollowed out. Yesterday, it felt like there was a new and vibrant core support.

Now for God's sake, let's get the management team and the bulk of the squad signed up.

Well said Leon. I feel it's starting to feel like our club again, I still want a new public face, but that can be discussed in June and July.

Altrincham FC First Team / A good season
« on: May 07, 2019, 08:24:04 AM »
In August I asked that we make the playoffs. We had every opportunity to do so. And had we not made them (7th is a third of the league) I would have had questions about the progress of this team given the level of quality we have vs the league)
I said this league was mediocre (and it is pretty average in most parts) and essentially 4 mini-leagues. We showed at Alfreton in EVO Stik we were better than the relegation sides and better than the mid-tale fodder. We were never likely to be in that top 3 sections so that left us the playoff bracket.

However, we've done it by playing (at times) some of the best football I've seen this club play. We had no right to do so we've achieved a lot this season.

I think Stockport taught up a couple of lessons as did Chorley away. But I think as a group (even if the individuals have the experiences it needs to be collective shared learning) the red card and going to ET and pens will have taught them a lot about being cuter next season. It was this squad Brackley.

I think this team would beat that side, so we're over a year ahead of the Sinnott 3-year promotion project.

People at the time talked about cutting that gap down to be title challengers. I think we've made a big step forward over the last 4 or 5 weeks (not there yet clearly) but to find that goal at a very average York, score from nothing against Chorley and the Blyth comeback. We are starting to be able to inject something different in where needs be (a Plan A and a plan A 2.0... Can't call it a plan B).

Sunday's atmosphere is one of the best I've been a part of and I hope Sunday laid the foundation for a new Golf Road atmosphere to be built on.

It's now time to back Parky with the search from a proper investment over the Summer. Time to get things better prepped off the pitch so when we go up we're no longer pissing about with loose change buckets and sponsored walks. Footy Accumulators are (in public) the most supportive sponsor and investor we've had. Let's have five or six more of those types.

But 2 proud seasons after one of the darkest years. Even I've nothing to moan at... Well done Phil. Well done Neil.

Based on the last ten games Blyth are top. But there are rumours that they have been told they can't afford promotion. So that must affect the players morale.

It won't....they have a point to prove to the Chairman

I'm not sure what point they'd prove? He's allegedly ask them to take a 40% paycut. Even if they go up and he offers them 20 per cent pay reduction going up will require them all to have a pay increase.

I think the awards should be separate for all the teams. But you have got to accept that the players of the Altrincham Ladies FC and the Reserve side are very good ambassadors for the club

Well said Chester. Although I'd say the women's team are probably better ambassadors than our Sunday League reserves.

Seperate awards nights like the juniors. But at the club and equal respect given to them.

I draw the line with either player on the pitch during the season.
