Scottish Challenge Cup
« on: September 25, 2022, 07:01:38 PM »

I see that Caernarfon and Cliftonville have been playing in the Totally Nutty Scottish competition (they lost to Buckie and Queen's Park). Is there any news on whether NL clubs are back in or likely to be back in in the future? If so, one has to assume that participation in this competition is a realistic possibility in the future if our five-year plan progresses well (and one I would obviously relish. I've always wanted to go to Northern Ireland).

There were no teams from the Republic of Ireland either this year. I heard that the National League teams just weren't interested.

I think the oddest fact is that Wrexham qualified to represent England one season while TNS (who played Dundee this season) qualified to represent Wales!

PS I didn't  go, but we did travel to Belfast to play Cliftonville in a friendly once.

I remember it. Also bizarrely playing Caernarfon in the Cheshire cup. Unfortunately missed both matches. At least I saw the Greenock friendly!

I presume TNS are still playing in Shropshire.

They are - based at Park Hall, just north of Oswestry, accurately described as the most Welsh town in England.
