I don't think we've had a poll on the final table this season so it would be interesting to see what people think of our chances in this vital season of transition. And maybe revisit the subject later in the season if our fortunes change...

I’ll go public and say I voted 17 to 20. Don’t even know if I believe that but I’ve got to think we will stay up. If at some time in the future we have to bail out of full time and revert to part time without terminal damage I’ll still maintain we were right to give it a go. You can’t die wondering.

I made the same forecast. Once we sort out our criminally long injury list we'll do better. The entire bottom half of the table is only covered by 5 points this evening. It only takes a couple of scrappy victories and it'll look lots better.

As long as we can stay up, we've had a successful season. We can build on that and aim for midtable next year.

I still expect us to finish 16th or higher. We'll strengthen properly now, and we also sign some good mid season players

Maybe I'm getting carried away but that does feel like a turnup tonight after all the times we've gone to Gateshead knowing we won't win!

I'm closing the poll now, but if we carry on like this the results could be different later in the season - or right now for that matter.

Notable that even with most votes before this improved run of form, most backed us to stay up. No certainties of course, but I'm confident now.
