Maybe get there early, if this bumper crowds theory is true?

Incidentally, the BBC text service still has "Cymru Premier" matches as taking place tomorrow. I assume this is another glitch, as Flint Town United v. Aberystwyth Town was off tonight.

Hugh v Amsterdam Alty sumo wrestling in a pub car park?
If we don’t do it Sky will. 😂😂😂
I'm strictly down for bikini mud wrestling only.

Ah, sumo, the politest sport in the world (one wrestler had a reputation as the bad boy of the sport after clenching his fists in celebration) and the one martial art I have had some sort of experience at. Be warned (!). :) (The Sky's the limit).

(You probably won't be surprised to learn that Bradford (Park Avenue), with their () and (traditional) non-league ambience (and old programmes on sale (I once bought a programme from their last FL season in 1969-70 there))! is (one of) my favourite away trips (and also the scene for (one of) my favourite Alty goals, a Valery Owen belter back in 2005). Altogether now: "Oh, Bandy Bandy - Bandy Bandy Bandy Bandy Peter Band (I may have imagined that last bit!)).

(I fear you may be out of luck for mud wrestling now they have fixed that corner of the pitch near the (old) gasworks (unless you can persuade them to include it in the fanzone!)).

holding things up like this after goal certainly might disrupt a team's momentum though and is very provocative (and frustrating for supporters. By the same token, time is added on for fake injuries but they are, like delaying kickoff after a goal, about giving a teram time to regroup, and there is no possible doubt about the picking the ball up one - ungentlemanly conduct of the worst sort.

One thing I would like to know though is just how much discretion the referee has over time wasting and stoppages. There was a match against Blyth when the floodlights failed and one Alty supporter insisted that the time added on at the end of the half was less than the amount  of time taken to get the lights back on. Understandable in a match against Blyth, but it does beg the question what else referees can do on their own initiative in a competitive match..

Wasn't he supposed to be involved in the Shaun Densmore testimonial? Did he appear in the end?

Some good points in an entertaining article. Personally I would consider making it a sending off offence when a player picks up the ball after a goal and refuses to give it back to an opposition team desperate to kick off again quickly, that's the sort of behaviour that can easily spark a brawl.

Including you. Why not!

Seriously, I don't understand why anyone expects Byrne not to start, unless there was some condition attached to the loan.

It appears that at long last (unless this is just another glitch!)  the football results section is covering FA Cup qualifying round matches (Congleton beat Bootle 1-4 (home team first!)) rather than ignoring it until the first round proper, despite televising some qualifying round matches, and despite giving results and scorers from the non-league only Scottish cup first round (I always look out for my former local team and historic Highland League new boys (who apparently had a ball returned to them once that had floated across to Scandinavia) Banks O' Dee).

I wonder, does anyone still watch "Ceefax" now apart from me? (I suppose at least we don't have to wait through 48 pages on Teletext to see the Mid-Cheshire League scores now (who would've thought that Westmorland has a league!) - even I will admit that some change is good, AA :) )

Isn't it odd how, when you use players who look forward and actually attack the opposition, you look dangerous and even score goals.
I think it's worth relinquishing our position related to possession if we can get a goal or two.

Far too often we go backwards and sideways to keep the ball.
It's doing that cost the second goal which, incidentally,  came from our throw

I remember Paul Scholes once bemoaning players attempting over-ambitious passes rather than playing the simple ball to keep possession. Though to be fair I also remember us joking about Barrow's lovely passing football right up to the half way line!

During the Euros I used to get frustrated with Sterling losing the ball, but I guess if he didn't try these things which often ended up in losing possession, he also wouldn't get the game changing moments of brilliance where they come off.

Their kit was pretty rammy though

It was horrendous, and unnecessary for a team who normally wear green to switch to stripes !

Was it mind games I wonder (like that team who forced Altrincham to kick towards the Golf Road End in the first half a few years ago when they were all set to kick towards the Chequers End as usual)? Hard to think of another reason.

I thought United had one of the best fan zones I've seen, they just don't call it that. And do stop sniping.

Hey Hugh, great to hear from you. I'm still awaiting your response to several questions in the off topic forum.

As far as taking advice from yourself, I think hell will freeze over before that is a wise idea.

Not much point, you didn't seem to take on board a lot of what I did post. Anyway, I was only posting on the subject because it was having a serious impact on the club and its fans, which will hopefully no longer be the case.

Seriously though, why do you feel so strongly about this (and why do you keep sniping)? I would happily take advice from you if I thought it was good advice (and it may well be on some things), and I think it's a pity you seem to have such a bee in your bonnet about this (among other things).

It’s going to be very busy on Monday. Please try and help the club out by buying tickets in advance. And tell any friends or family coming to try and do the same
I sincerely hope it is going to be busy. If it’s not it’s starting to get a cause for concern. I’m camping outside the CSH in the hope of getting served without missing 20 minutes of the game.

I was waiting outside the CSH in first half injury time on Saturday and went straight in at half time. I ended up with about three minutes to have my drink. Of course, if we all did this, it wouldn't work.

Aren't there still two portaloos in the "fan zone" corner (though what condition they're in I don't know)?

Really, the trough toilets in that corner should have been promptly replaced, and even they would probably have been better than the current situation, which will hopefully end soon. (And bring back the old programmes shop!).

Infrastructure is going to be a massive money pit going forward in our quest for future progression.

I’m of the belief if the ground and facilities look good then more people will want to come through the turnstiles.

PS Yesterdays season ticket holders were yet again not scanned upon entry but just a tick on a piece of paper.

And my ticket hasn't arrived yet. Not being done by the Welsh FA are they? :)

I have previously touched on the lack of facilities serving the main stand . It's ridiculous that we have to make our way to the corner of the ground for (especially) toilets and refreshments.  I do understand that food and drink can be brought in to the ground by ourselves but toilets should be a given.
I need to add that my feelings are mostly motivated with thoughts of the many fans who have certain mobility issues (not myself fortunately) , but i have seen many who do .

I seem to remember once at a reserve match or some such, spectators were able to get a brew in the sponsors' lounge behind the family stand. If say blue badge holders were able to sit in the "family stand", and access the toilets and get a cup of tea in the facilities behind that stand (if they can't already) surely that would help, though I don't know what the situation is exactly on match days and whether it would be practical.
