Title: TERRY MURPHY
Post by: Silent but Ledley on August 19, 2019, 07:56:53 AM
For those older Alty fans you may remember the name of a local footie character and great guy around the Northwich Area. Sadly Terry passed away over the weekend aged 79.
Terry managed a number of clubs in his time notably Vics and Witton Albion. He also had a spell managing Winsford. SBL

My first 'middle' in the Conference was Vics 3-4 Boston in September 1984.  He was the home manager at the time.  Met him at many Mid Cheshire clubs!  RIP Terry

Terry was 'Mr Mid-Cheshire Football Icon' having played for Vics, Witton, Rhyl & Bangor City. He indeed went on to manage all three Mid-Cheshire Clubs (+ as mentioned being Assistant at Alty FC) and managed Middlewich Town & Barnton FC in the (Mid-) Cheshire League.
He also managed Railway Athletic/Coachman FC when the Mid-Cheshire Sunday League was in its heyday and latterly was on the Board at Witton Albion as Director of Football.

A very busy funeral is to take place at St.Wilfred's Church (opposite the old Central Ground) Northwich at 11.30am on Friday 30th August.

Rightfully there was a one-minute's applause at Witton Albion's & 1874 Northwich's home games last Tuesday evening.
