Post by: UkrainianPhil on December 22, 2010, 06:41:51 PM
Any chance of the game being on on Tuesday?

Silly question?

Not really a silly question.

We had this last year where fans announced games off weeks in advance, sometimes based on their gardens 20 miles away.

Really depends on what the weather does Monday/Tuesday next week I'd say.

Weather. Moss Lane Forecast. Upto & including MONDAY Highest Temp Minus 1 & Lowest Temp Minus 9. Most probably inspection MONDAY. At the moment leaving us with 10 games in January.

Based on my garden which is less than a mile from the ground, i would confidently suggest that there is no chance of this match going ahead. With temparatures of -7 today at the low end, upto a maximum of +3 on the day of the game itself, I think the cold will be far too set into the ground for there to be any chance. (Took my Chicken Vindaloo 6hrs to defrost in the kitchen yesterday, and that was at room temparature!  ;D )

The club have had about 20 people from the Community payback scheme clearing the terraces today just in case.....

Just had a call from the club regarding Alty vs York (as sponsoring game) and it's still a possibility as the forecast suggests a thaw will have started, albeit still only a slim chance.

Originally this match was shown as a 7.45pm KO but it is definitely 3PM if it does go ahead, just in case anyone else didnt notice the change in KO time,......we really need this  to happen financially, so let's all start praying for milder weather :D

Merry Xmas to everyone.

Looking at the forecast for Monday and Tuesday I think there is a good chance it could be on.

I fully expect this post to be followed by one saying "no chance" or the like.

To me its pretty important that we dont put off any of the 700+ York fans that could attend or Alty fans for that matter.

Bank holiday games are always at 3pm. Assume it was just a mistake with the initial report of 7:45.

My brother in law lives in Zimbabwe, he says his garden is nice and warm at present so there is a very good chance the game will be on!!!

The Wrexham v Altrincham game on Boxing Day has been postponed following an inspection of The Racecourse pitch this morning.
Alty's next scheduled game is at home to York City on Tuesday 28 December at 3pm.

Tuesday is a bank holiday, and the game should start at 3pm (weather permitting).

How deep is the frost in the ground? Wrexham's pitch covers did no good, when it was Minus 2, never mind the lower temps. Just keep your fingers crossed for the inspection on Monday. Also, hope there are no frozen pipes & toilets. Not being pessimistic but realistic. Forecst plus 5 on Tuesday but no higher than plus 1 before then. Further damage today between minus 4 & 7. Sleet Monday & drizzle Tuesday.

Couldn't we do that? I know a lot of other sports fixtures for this week have been reschedualed 24 hours later- would we be allowed to do this and play on wednesday?

I love the way that rugby union are able to reschedule and even move games at the drop of a hat. A Sale rugby game was recently delayed by 24 hours and moved to Gala in the Scottish borders.

Possibly we could (Not really, absolutely no chance tbh) but we'd struggle for players, staff and supporters(and possibly match officials) as some folk have to go back to work on Wednesday
