The similarity begins and well and truly ends with the name.
-
Willie Mailey must have been one of the smallest Goalkeepers around (and one of the best at the time too)
-
In the same team: Jamie Taylor and Nathan Comley-Excell (who I seem to remember as some kind of Peter Crouch lookalike)
Two small players who were in the team in the seventies (along with small Joe Flaherty) were Neil Clements and Tony Bannister.
-
Surprised not to hear mention of Paul Clements from the Les Rigby era. Surely the shortest of all??
-
Stupidly when I said Neil Clements, I meant Paul Clements!
-
Wasn't Steve Cross a midget... erm, short? :)
There's another full back that for the life of me I can't remember his name. All I remember is he was short, dark-haired, a full back and Scouse. After searching through the Alty website I still have no idea who he was :-\
-
John Smith?
-
I don't know, maybe he was just a figment of my imagination ;)
Thanks :)
-
i remember Barry Shuttleworth to be quite small, dont know where he is now though?
-
No really, that was his name.
-
No really, that was his name.
Really? God, that name doesn't ring a bell at all :D
Cheers! ;D

Short scouse fullback? Mid eighties? Could it have been Andy Lee who I remember scoring a screamer from a quickly taken corner in our 3-2 win at Sutton in 83 or so?
