The REAL League Table
« on: February 10, 2009, 08:58:31 AM »

Anybody from the forum who hasn't experienced this before then heres a little explanation of it. It's a league table which shows the clubs actually climbing up it with each win or draw they get and shows how far away each team is from their targets. The three stages are Certain, Probably and Historical. This is basically staticians heaven!

Certain - These stages are basically what it says, you reach this point and its yours! These will never get bigger, the points tally on these will drop as teams drop points.

Probable - This is based on the teams points per game tally, again these will change throughout the season. This will most probably go down as teams form drops and the relegation mark will rise somewhat as teams pick up points.

Historical - This is a fixed mark which will not change throughout the season. I have taken the points from the last 6 seasons which was needed to reach the stage and averaged them out. The Safety one is incredicly low due to Altrincham's good fortunes.

Landmarks - This is teams that achieved these landmarks in the past 6 seasons.

110 - Certain Champions/Automatic Promotion
.
106 - Certain Play-offs
.
104 - Probable Champions

it basically shows the points landmarks so people can see how close to the clubs targets (or personal targets) we are.

eg according to a historical average we are safe from relegation and 35 pts from the average points total of the play offs.

Have you used the football league tables(cola-cola leagues) from the divisions that have had a 46 game season? I think you made find that 53 points is the safety target. 72 points will probably get up a play-off spot.

i have literally copied and pasted it off another non league fourm. it does say it is updated as per results, so the probables and Certains will move higher or lower as teams gain form or lose form - it's results based (this is as per last nights results) and with 2 places in the dropzone pritty much confirmed i'd say 50 pts as it states isn't far off.
