8pts off the playoffs
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:43:56 PM »

That equaliser was coming from about 30 minutes, there's no way we should be 8 points behind that poor Nuneaton outfit we despatched with ease here. Maybe it's just me, but we didn't win a 50/50 ball in the 2nd half, and we shouldn't be hanging on for a point against anyone at home in this league. 649 on a foul tonight at moss lane, compared to 302 at runaway leaders Hyde, something isn't right.

I would argue it was coming from 14 minutes into the game, never mind for 30 minutes before they scored !.............we were second best all night.

If a fit JP Marna was playing tonight he would have scored at least 5 goals for them. To be second best at home against a team I'd never heard of five years ago is somewhat annoying

It was a top 10 performance by Alty in keeping with our league position.

Corby deserved the win, and lets be honest and give them some praise, they are well drilled outfit with some big strong defenders.

I actually thought, despite my criticism of the defending for the goal and the fact that Stuart kept us in it at times, that we defended fairly well actually, certainly from set pieces which was an improvement.

Whatever the reasons for the performance and how to rectify it that's for elsewhere. For the game in itself in isolation it was certainly a point gained rather than two lost.

4 Corby fans as well  ::)

Alot of credit Corby they control the 2nd half, these are playoff contenders. I dont think we could have done much more last night but the subs by the boss confused me a little last night. Really think demsmore should buck up his ideas!! He deserves more criticism than brown in my eyes!

I don't rate Brown at all and I have to concur with you that Densmore was well below par last night.

I do think that the fact that his father is an Alty legend does secure him some immunity from constructive criticism on occasions, too.

Looking at the these tables there are obviously quite a few differences, it was a lot tighter at the top in 04-05, so given Stalybridge and Hyde are likely to be 1 and 2  this season it only leaves 3 play off places to compete for. That said it comes as a bit of surprise to see our playing records will be identical if we draw at Blyth. Plenty of games to go and even more room for improvement, but we're not out of yet.
