Other teams leaving the league
« on: April 28, 2007, 07:43:52 PM »

Don't think it's been mentioned yet, but what are the chances of another team leaving/being kicked out and us being kept up by it?  Crawley are in admin, so will they get kicked out?

I also remember the Weymouth statement saying "we will complete this year in the conference but our future may be in a different league"?

Just being hopeful!  I think did really well, absolutely gutted we didn't score.  Can't beleive we didn't in honesty.  Also DEFINATELY think we should have had at least 2 penalties.  But as they say, it wasn't our day.

I think Weymouth will stay, but struggle next year.

We can still dream regarding Crawley. Quite simply, financially, they cheated.

Don't forget that we still have to have the end of season chaos brought to you by the incompetants who run the Conference

It would come as a fairly major surprise if we didn't have some sort of fiasco with teams facing expulsion for financial problems, and if they dig deep enough, they will surely find some team who has fielded an ineligible player  ;)

I'll be amazed if Boston or Crawley go.  For one, it doesn't look good on a league if teams are constantly being relegated for off the pitch issues, as has happened too often in the past few years.  I suspect those at the top are wary of doing this again.

at the race night last night somebody said to us that crawley would not go down. he said he had inside information so...

also i got a text of a mate last night saying that he had heard stafford may be getting 3 points deducted an asking if i knew anything. i haven't got a clue. anybody?

You can hope and dream all you like, Crawley aint going anywhere, we have done enough on the field, to rightfully keep our place in the Premier, weve paid our dues with a ten point deduction, weve made a team out of players that no one else wanted and we held our own, Alty however didnt, so take your punishment for not being good enough for this league, like Tamworth, Southport and st albans had to.

"weve paid our dues with a ten point deduction"

Is this some sort of new exchange rate?

Alty could quite clearly spend a couple of million on the team to finsih high in the league and then reduce this by 75%......then do the same again!!

We'd rather earn things on merit on a sound financial footing and pay our bills but if other clubs f*ck themselves good and proper and break rules left right and centre we can't help it really if the conference kick them out and reprieve us can we?

Crawley have clearly the money to pay their dues at the proper rate of £1 to the £1 owed (at worst they could sell a few motors) so as such do not have financial problems. My suspicion is that the owners are just grinding out their cva payment with which the conference may lose patience.
