According to tonight's MEN, Damien left his boots at home last Saturday. He scored his two goals against Bradford in Scott Leather's spare pair.

Obviously, Scott should wear.them himself tomorrow and start up front   ;)

At least Ben Collins has now realised that we are not playing in the FA Vase!

Altrincham hot-shot looks to fill his boots against Shildon

Ben Collins
September 21, 2012

Damian Reeves cannot afford a repeat of last week’s dramatic build-up as ALTRINCHAM begin their FA Cup campaign tomorrow.

The Yorkshire-based hotshot had got halfway to Moss Lane last Saturday when he realised he’d forgotten his boots.

It was too late to turn back so Reeves sent out an SOS on Twitter.

Thankfully defender Scott Leather had a spare pair and they must have been a good fit as Reeves scored twice in a 3-1 win against Bradford Park Avenue.

But the 26-year-old won’t make the same mistake for their second qualifying round tie at Shildon of the Northern League, which will be his 100th game for Alty.

“I’m not sure how it happened,” he said. “I just walked out the house and didn’t give it any thought.

“Then when I picked up Nicky Clee I opened the boot and thought ‘where’s my bag?’

“When I got to the ground I had to root through the black bag for some shinpads so I got some stick.

“Even the gaffer had a chuckle – but I still got a fine! It would have been worse if I had a poor game and we got a bad result.

“But all’s well that ends well. Maybe if I had my own boots I would have got three!”

That brace took Reeves’ tally to 13 for the season, with all coming in the last six games.

Reeves hit 44 last term and, although he failed to secure a summer move, several League clubs are still watching him, with Fulham reportedly interested.

“Maybe some thought last season was a fluke but now they’ve seen I’ve carried on from where I left off,” he said.

“I’ve heard the rumours but until anyone approaches the club I’m not going to worry about it.

“Shildon will be looking for an upset but we’re unbeaten in four now and we’re due a Cup run. This is my third season here and we’ve not won an FA Cup game yet.”

Reeves said on Twitter he had forgotten his boots. Leather replied saying he had a spare pair and would bring them for him.
