Time to put the best 11 out and get formation he wants against FGR.
Coburn
Densmore Havern Marshall Griffin
Richman Mouukt Cleve
Lawrie
Reeves Rankine
-
While I agree that represents our best 11, I think FGR would exploit our horribly exposed midfield if we play two up front.
-
100% agree with both comments.
I'd like to see him starting with that and being brave enough to react if necessary after half an hour (the obvious thing being sacrificing Rankine for Griffith).
We've got one last chance to establish whether we can get away with playing 2 up front - I hope Lee uses it and then adjusts for the start of the season accordingly.
-
It looks a decent enough side on paper but like Brian said may get exposed I'd also play leather as unlike most still believe he is are best centre half but I haven't seen pre season so I maybe wrong
-
The team has a good balance with Havern and Marshall, and the partnership largely worked well last year - no need to change it, the least of our worries.
The hard thing is that you can't drop Reeves, and I think Rankine has done enough in pre-season to merit a start as well.
Might be worth mentioning we played 2 up front v Bristol Rovers (H) early doors and outplayed them in all areas - clutching at straws maybe...!
I'm pretty sure we'll be playing 1 up front come the start of the season, and (begrudgingly) rightly so.
-
I think having 2 centre halfs who are not great on the ball is not the best idea and towards the end of the season teams sussed us out and played on the floor at the end of the season agree it's not are biggest problem however only 5 teams conceded more goals granted that included leather aswell
-
Leather in for masher , sorry to say Tom looks a little overweight at moment , and I think overall Scott is a better player.
-
I'd go with the team at the start of the thread with one exception. You must all promise not to laugh.
I'd play Jordan Sinnott in place of Nicky Clee and leave the overlapping to our full backs.
-
Well he must be much improved as clee is are most creative player without clee there is normally little or no creativity
-
Ha ha ha ha he he he , sorry couldn't help myself .

so that's our best XI from last season with rankine in for perry...... :-\

If that's the state of your vision ...should have gone to specsavers .....and I'm never getting in your cab!

I think Sinnott has looked half decent on both occasions in pre season that we've employed him on the right hand side of the pitch, both against Wigan and against Trafford. He'll never get praise at any point even if it's at detriment to the team because the dye has been cast. He's no central midfielder, and I hope we don't seen him there again, but not had a problem with him in a right hand berth so far.

I will remind you of this later in the season
Incidentally what were the scores in those two games (both against sides three leagues below us) when Sinnott looked decent?

I've booked you a place at Prestwich hospital as you're obviously losing your marbles ;)

Wigan aren't 3 leagues below us, and it was 1-1, and we were losing at Trafford when he came on and drew 2-2

I didn't realise that Wigan was three leagues below us. Must have missed something!!!!!

the 2 loan spells he has had he didn't look good enough in the middle or the right lets hope he improves and proves to be a decent player because we are going to see a lot of him and to be honest the dye was cast because of the 2 spells
-
Half decent you say , we need a fully decent performance from him .
-
How could I amend it, it would say edited at the bottom? And also you've quoted it, so it would still be on your post? And everyone knows Jordan Sinnott didn't play at witton Albion?

Pete, with you all the way.
It seems to me some people on this forum just want to be negative to Lee and Jordan Sinnott.
Jordan Sinnott is not the best player Alty have ever signed, BUT he could be a good member of the squad.
For those who have been to some of the pre season games, Jordan can fit into more than one position.
As for his father, he has improved the team every year, and long may it continue.
Good luck for this season.
COME ON YOU MIGHTY ROBINS
-
Lee Sinnott has done a decent job but his son has failed in 2 previous spells he may look all right pre season when no one tackles why do people talk about anti Sinnott family the lad is not as good as Williams or wilkinson simple
-

So no tackles we're going on in the Wigan or Trafford game. Ask Densmore about that!!
'Lee Sinnott has done a decent job'!!
With the money he has had, he has done a brilliant job.
He deserves a lot of credit.
Still think Jordan can do a job as a squad member.
I think Jimmy if you read a lot of posts on this forum, some people don't like The Sinnetts.
I do agree Jimmy that we should have kept Williams.
-
I don't go pre season never have and won't now I live 150 miles away but if that is the case about those games fair enough however the lad never tackled at the end of last season and to believe people don't rate Jordan Sinnott just because he is the managers lad is an insult to people's knowledge
-

Exactly.
Hope you can get to the games this year.
-
I will get to the games Thankyou just not midweek and northern away games what is the exactly for
-
Most posters who have expressed concerns about Jordan Sinnott's arrival have been 100% supportive of Lee Sinnott. While I'm prepared to accept Jordan as an Alty player and wish the lad well, it doesn't alter the fact that the reason he was signed is because he is the manager's son, there's no point whatsoever pretending otherwise based on what I have seen. Having said that, I really hope the lad proves us all wrong and rams our doubts down our throats. I just don't see it happening and I worry about the impact his arrival will have on other players.
-
As for the team reaction, I am less concerned. If I remember correctly his goal at the end of last season was greeted with delight by the players. The squad seems to me to be tight in that regard.
-
I agree it won't effect the harmony of the team but I agree with the rest of Brian's post
-

It seems the manager has been listening!
-
I've not gone to the game, but let's see how "my" lineup does.
Nicky isn't on the bench so may have a knock.
And of course Bowerman now enters the equation.
-
No idea what the team is likely to be on Saturday when results matter.
What i am happy about is that by all accounts the squad is much more complete than last season.
Arguably a stronger first 11 and as the team knit together this will improve further, but what looks to be a solid bench now with no real gaps. We appear to have game changers on the bench, whoever those players will end up being.
Overall I am quite happy and looking forward to a promising season and an improvement on 2014-15.
-
If Jordan Sinnott ever starts over a fit Clee I will rip my season ticket up

I am sorry but your very much mistaken, this squad is by far the weakest we have had for a number of years
All the new players are poorer than the ones they have replaced with the possible exception of Rankine
Name a game changer who will be on the bench next week?
-

Be careful now. I remember a member of this forum solemnly pledging never to attend another game while Sinnot is in charge (around 2 1/2 years ago). Of course he was full of sh*t and missed only a game or two! Lucky for him he didn't have the courage of his convictions or would have missed the excitement of the play off win!
-
What? It can't by far weaker than last year because the first XI is pretty much the same. We have the same first XI, the same defensive back up, a striker who is probably better than Perry and the rest of the bench is unproven who may or may not be better than last year's subs bench. Not the progress we would have liked certainly but 'by far weaker' - no chance

No we don't at all, what rubbish
Wasn't Cavanagh in the starting XI last season? (and will probably be replaced by Sinnott jnr)
How much weaker do you want?

Not sure it's by far the weakest squad we've had for years. Rankine and Bowerman are a massive improvement on Perry and Gillespie while Deasy is probably a slight improvement on Parton but on the flip side I'm not convinced O'Keefe and Griffith are quite as good as Williams and Cavanagh. Overall I'd say the squad overall is of a similar standard to last season.
-
Disagree Martin, as I said in the other thread I bet you £100 Bowerman doesn't score as many goals as Brooke

So we've changed one player in the first XI, who was far from ever present, from the team that finished the higher up the pyramid than any Alty team for best part of a decade and we are 'by far the weakest squad we've had for years' - that's just complete nonsense. Can't be bothered to do a like for like comparison with the squad that started 3 or 4 years ago but I'm fairly confident no-one would swap either of those squads for this one!
-

How many games did Cavanagh play in which he was neither booked nor sent off ? I bet it amounts to less than half the season. Though I'm not yet convinced about Griffith, who reminds me of Carl Rodgers.

Even without seeing bowerman I'd be gobsmacked if he was worse than Perry or Gillespie

for my money we had a better team in 2014 than last year because we had Walshaw as for this year even without pre season I know deasey is better than Parton and rankine better than Perry Sinnott not as good as Williams or wilko the rest I will see in time
-
I wouldn't disagree with that - my assertion wasn't that this years squad is the best we've had for years, it was this years squad is not 'by far the weakest we've had for years' .
Sybil's opinion is faulty

2008/09 we came 15th, 2009/10 we came 14th, last year we came 17th. Try to get the basics right Bath Alty
And yes both those sides were better than this, as were the sides from the previous three years
-
I thought we got bullied more than a few times last year, inc Blyth and Bath and I'm assuming that's what's behind a few of the changes. Couple that with the fact that sides know what we're about suggests to me LS is looking to put out a less open team this year. I liked Williams but he tended to drift in and out of games and centre mid can't really do that, whether Okeefe and Griffith will fit only time will tell. We all know that pace and power up front is key in this league, hopefully Bowerman and Rankine will give us something which was missing last year.

I've seen people saying Cavanagh only played half a season and Williams also. Well they replaced each other didn't they. I'd have said from what I've seen so far (and it's not a great deal in fairness) that neither O'Keefe or Griffith are better than either Cavanagh or Williams.
Hopefully I'll be proved wrong, people have said Griffith struck up good partnerships with his midfielders so I'm hopeful there.
And it might not be this thread but Densmore never got the not good enough treatment because he was superb from day one.
Clee did because he was about a stone overweight when he signed and took a while to get going. The initial criticism was fully justified. It'd be madness to drop him now though, especially if playing 442.
-
What I've seen of Griffith so far I'd say he's a poor mans Carl Rodgers which doesn't bode well but I'm prepared to give the lad time to fit into the club and get match fit.
