BOXING DAY TRAIN TRAVEL TO WREXHAM
« on: December 18, 2009, 12:06:38 PM »

Should be back home for this crucial festive encounter!!!

Is there a direct train from Hale/Alty/Stockport/Piccadilly to Wrexham?

Get the coach, it's only a tenner.

I don't understand the problem with getting the heavily discounted coach.

I don't understand the problem with getting the heavily discounted coach.

1. No beer on way.

2. No time for pint after.

3. No time for my traditional wander around local area before kick off.

Having said that will prob end up getting the coach, along with my flask of *cough* tea

Why would you need beer on the way for a one hour journey? It's Wrexham not Wexham! The coach also normally arrives about an hour before kick off so you could still have a stroll around the local area.

You forgot to mention another downside of the coach, their wont be a toliet stop on the one hour journey either.  The whole planning of it is a disgrace.

In fairness different people have different expectations of the match, perhaps more so when its away in a new place. Personally, myself and my group like to have a full day out, getting there early having a few drinks, watch the game, a few more and home. Coach travel does not allow this so I sympathise with Tottenhams comments.

Obviously if there are no trains, then there are no trains. A poor show really for a supposedly 1st world country, there used to be trains on Boxing Day when I were younger, and that was in the day when the unions were strong. Perhaps they got paid a good wage for running them then?

For those wanting a drink you can be in the bridge inn for 11am and have a drink until 1240pm get on the coach, travel for 50 odd mins by coach and have an hour in either the turf pub or the wrexham social club prior to the game, and be back in the pub in alty just after 6pm.Such a short journey is no hardship,we should be grateful we have volunteers running coaches other wise we'd need nominated drivers

Absolutely agree with this. When I have got the coach the service was much appreciated.

My comments above were just my reasons for prefering train travel, but yeah I take nothing away from the guys that organise the coaches, it is nice to have the option.
