Alty's sequences of consecutive defeats (for Ballers)
« on: November 14, 2009, 12:27:35 PM »

By my reckoning, our current run of five successive defeats is our worst sequence since this one from the 2007/08 season:

26th November 2007: Stevenage 2 Alty 1 (Conference)
(Setanta televised this one; two horrendous errors by Gary Scott)

1st December 2007: Alty 1 Histon 2 (Conference)
(the match featuring Carlos Logan's notorious back pass)

15th December 2007: Alty 1 York City 3 (FA Trophy)

22nd December 2007: Nuneaton Borough 2 Alty 1 (Setanta Shield)

26th December 2007: Alty 1 Vics 2 (Conference)
(the match featuring that infamous central midfield pairing of Aspinall and Scott...)

29th December 2007: Alty 1 Stevenage Borough 5 (Conference)

The rot was then stopped via that 2-1 win against nine man Vics on New Year's Day.

The worst sequence of consecutive defeats that I can recall in recent times was a woeful total of 13 during Stan Allan's disastrous season as Alty manager in 1991/92.

I'm certain that we will get a result.

Isn't every conceivable scoreline a 'result'....?!

Prediction for this afternoon:

We are playing the team with the worst defensive record in the league.

So, a 0-0 draw is inevitable.

13 straight defeats was incredible. It was all down to not being arsed as well. They roused themselves for 2 games at Easter, won them both and then promptly sacked it off again.  ::)
