From next season, after a merger between Bury FC and Bury AFC, the merged club will play at Gigg Lane from next season. 90.1% of Bury FC Supporters' society members, and 97% of Bury AFC members voted to form one club playing at Gigg Lane after a previous vote fell narrowly short of the two thirds majority required. Council and government funding of over one million pounds (!) will now be available. Good to see positive news for Bury at last, but a pity it took four years.

Positive news for Bury, but I don't think they will be playing at Gigg Lane immediately, although they might manage it in the course of next season. I did see something about the plan being to lay an artificial pitch,

Great news for the town & all Shakers fans, pleased to hear it. Suspect it will be a good few years yet though before we finally get to play the proper Metrolink derby against them.
-
One of the very few restart clubs that I can wholeheartedly wish the very best of luck for their future progress and prosperity.
Hope we're playing them in the NL very soon (certainly before M**c eventually make it up here.
Be great to have Rochdale, Oldham and, possibly, Chester to give the league a real North West flavour.
-
No disrespect to other posters, but I care as much about Bury FC as they care about us. We should be aiming for promotion before they get a sniff at National League.
-
Probably be playing them within 3 or 4 years same with Macc
-
M**c two promotions away, Bury four. So three and five seasons respectively at best.
-
Unless we go down!
An artificial pitch makes sense for Bury. I just hope that the FL are allowing these pitches by the time Bury are in a position to push for a return to the league.

Add Halifax to the list and possibly Accy , Crewe and Morecambe in the next few years for a proper Northwest Fest ! And yes best of luck to the Shakers , not so Macc who hopefully will hit the buffers in NLN like FCUM .

I'm not saying this scenario won't happen, but there are plenty of clubs who thought they were too big for it to happen to them stuck down in the regional leagues. Look at Chester, Darlington and Hereford to name a few.
-
And Torquay , SC**thorpe and Yeovil .

Morecambe won't be competitive next year by the looks of things, haven't offered anyone a new deal and currently have six players under contract...

If it costs 200k to go (half covered by grants) but they get 5 years of 100k profit on it, plus community benefits, they can always rip it up.

Thought the cost was nearer to half a million?
