According reports from the Guiseley forum gone to Harrogate!!
-
oooh, that'll go down well! There was a bit of a mixed reaction to his becoming available, but how often does a proven quality scorer become available?
Glad he's got what he wants.
Good luck to him.
-
I'm sure that we will watch his progress with great interest! James maybe in the same boat at the end of next season as with Alty if Harrogate get promoted. Anyway, best of luck James.
-
I'm assuming he was not on a contract with us -we won't get a fee will we?
-
Good luck wally every chance he will become like the bloke in quantum leap help get a team out of this league and move on to the next one

LOL :D

Hemel: I sincerely doubt we would have just let him walk away if he was on a contract as we could easily have commanded a fee for him. My bet is he was on a 12 month contract, was offered terms for a new one but left due to reasons he gave on here and the club site. :)
-
Harrogate, what league are they in.bad move that, we cant afford to let players of his calibre go, however, if its his decision, we should of put him on a contract.

Walshaw gone to Harrogate according to reports from the Guiseley forum no confirmation Walshaw has gone to any club yet?

Pehaps he wanted a season deal only because he didn't want the travelling which is the case lets face it if last season walshaw was available but we didn't want him because he wouldn't play in the confrence the board wouldev been crucified

In recent times most of our players have been on one-season contracts (start of July to end of April); those signed up for longer than that have very much been the exception rather than the rule. Walshaw will not have been an exception.
-
As Mike says one year contracts the norm at this level. Even if we had offered Walshaw a 2 yr deal I bet he wouldn't have signed it.
It's not in his interests to as he can virtually guarantee a club 25 goals a season. So each year he can start an auction for his services. Not a criticism of him of course, he would be daft to commit to 2 years anywhere.
Must be ace to be that good!
-
Prob not the norm at conf prem, so we will have to get used to that
-
Contract or no contract. If a player wants to leave, i.e isn't fully committed to the club, then what's the point of him being about?
He's good enough to walk into a Conf North club of his choosing, see his family and keep his other job going.
-
Wally has tweeted that his new club will be announcing his signing today
-
Probably eithher harrogate or nfu ? Guiseley ,bpa and county outsiders
-
Its Harrogate.
-
Best of luck to him, they should break that habit of just failing to get in the playoffs with his goals.

wow, another strong team In the conf north, nightmare league to get out of next year
-
Good luck Wally .
-
I love Wally as much as the next man, but that interview strikes me as disingenuous. He can't seriously say he wants promotion "badly" when he's just achieved it then walked away.
-
It's obvious that he wants success and has ambition, his reaction to getting promoted with Alty showed that, but that is combined with him knowing he needs to put his family first. The two are contradictory, but that's the reality of life. For me it's definitely sincere.
-
He's had a taste of it and wants more. And let's face it, who wouldn't? If he then goes on to win promotion and walks away again to another conf north club then, to me, the man is the epitome of class. If he stays at Harrogate if they get promoted I probably wouldn't forgive him, but my gut instict says he wouldn't do that.
-
I get that he has a job and a family. If he can earn more at Harrogate than here, while not having to travel, then I absolutely understand that. I get that he's not a sky's-the-limit 21 year old and that his football career clock is ticking and he needs to maximise his income while he can.
It's just the whole "I don't have to go to Barrow" and the changing his mind four days later, followed by an impassioned wish to gain promotion sounds entirely hollow.
-
Well he's hardly going to go there and state that he hopes they achieve mid-table mediocrity now is he? Storm in a Yorkshire teacup.
Even if he were to gain promotion with Harrogate and then stay with them, I would still not castigate him. That's a year further down the line, he'll have been with family for a whole year by then. Situations change and a year is a long time.
-
watched wally since he was a nipper, the one thing he as always done is give 110% for every club he as played for , me and the wife have enjoyed watching wally at alty ,its been a great team to watch, i hope you do great next season, it will be our first result to look for, its nearer home for us now, the m62 can be a pig, all the best people , enjoy your well deserved promotion
-
Good luck Wally, you've served us well and Harrogate have got themselves a great player.
