Define when and how winter comes in this country.
You could for example have a two week break over Christmas/New Year when the weather is OK, then following two weeks of snow ,ice or rain.

3G pitches are the answer....with all day soccer Saturdays at all grounds....all ladies, reserve, youth leagues synched so to day we would have been away at oxford watching our ladies V theirs, our youth V theirs....then we all go to watch the football......
