Title: Rankine , reeves, Lawrie & leather....
Post by: AFC56 on May 05, 2016, 07:49:33 PM
....survive. The rest have all gone. What is that these managers see in James Lawrie? Honestly, after crowther and o'keefe he would have been first to go. Will miss Nicky Clee, quality player and also Luca , who apart from the last dozen games has been superb.

James Lawrie was an integral part of our promotion season. He's lost his way this season but we know the level he can play to. I'm quietly confident that Neil Young will stick a rocket up his arse and get him playing. The drop down could do him wonders.

Very happy with the clear out overall.

I doubt any of us anticipated these would be the 4 retained.

Little doubt Lawrie is good technically but doesn't perform well often enough

Hopefully he'll be kept away from dead ball situations under a new manager !

Well a big change was called for... I feel sorry for Nicky Clee, he has been brilliant for alty over the years, I'd have liked to have a chance to see him play one last time

Didnt include him in my thinking to be honest. Realistically he was never going stay. James Lawrie produces moments of magic every 7-10 games, but he is lightweight, loses the ball too often and is appalling at delivering set peices. I gave up with him a long time ago. Braintree's first goal last week sums up James Lawrie for me.

The fact Clee and Marshall have not been given a chance to prove  their  fitness seems a poor decision to me.

Should the four decide not to sign its a even bigger rebuild

Don't think any of us thought of Bowerman after half a dozen games.
With Lawrie, still can't make my mind up.
He does give the ball away.
Not in the same league as Graham Heathcote, but he gave the ball away.
In my opinion he was always one step ahead of the rest of the team.
Always thought Lawrie was a player who could change a game.
Didn't do it this season, but most of the time he played on the wing.
We will have to see what the new manager thinks.
As of yet, we still only have four players signed up.

Dont forget that our physio knows them better than anyone and you can bet that Neil has spoken to Alan about them,.. which suggests that their fitness is a major concern even for next year.

Bang on. They're both big gambles next season and the manager obviously has no time for that.

Yes, my worry is if his ops have worked and he ends up at one of our CN competitors like Harrogate (who tried to sign him twice before) then we might regret not keeping him.

Also a fit Nicky Clee might have provided the ammunition that reeves and Ranks would fill their boots on.

Yes thats what he said, but he hasnt tested them yet. A fit Nicky would be a huge asset to any team.
Time will tell and he's gone now so lets hope Young doesnt regret that decision.

Does anyone think any of these four won't resign for this season? I can't see Reevesey signing on again, especially now Nicky has left whilst Lawrie and Leather are probably thinking, all their mates from the last few years have left, so why hang around! Rankine is just a mercenary who will rock up where ever the money is best. I also heard he wanted full time football again as part time was no good for him.

I also wonder if the contracted players are safe as Young got rid of all those on contract at County last summer bar Hurst. He does like starting from scratch so wouldn't surprise me if the sums add up that he gets rid of a couple more when he knows who he can get in. I just hope he doesn't employ the quantity rather than quality tactics he used at County but to be honest, I fear the worse.

It's football..........you cannot be with mates all the time and I am sure they will make new friends ! They probably knew nobody other than Lee Sinnott when they joined here

Lawrie will sign on for whatever he is being offered, because no other club will want to sign him as he is utterly useless. I just cannot believe he is being approached for another season. >:( >:(

Why do you constantly feel the need to slag off, not only myself but other fans also, if they don't attend every match or every meeting in the CSH. If my personal circumstances, of which you know nothing about, had allowed me to attend, then I would have. You are very fortunate to be able to go to every match and attend every meeting.

B4D hasnt replied as he's been too busy doing volunteer work at the ground today and this evening. Something you clearly cant or dont want to do.

Also, when you are as consistently negative to others as you tend to be, surely you would be able to accept a little criticism yourself? or not?

Just saying like,...

That's funny : he was able to post today at 3.46 pm about the latest signings, so could not have been all that busy. And what has it got to do with you. Are you his agent.  Why don't you just stick to bad architecture.

By the way, are you coming down to help next saturday 4th June with tidying up the ground,...  ;)
