Ashton United appear to have fielded Max the doorman/bouncer from Phoenix Nights as their goalkeeper:

According to the omniscient John Laidlar, here's this afternoon's line-up in Tameside:

ALTRINCHAM 1. Tony THOMPSON, 2. Joel SENIOR, 3. David FITZPATRICK, 4. Toby MULLARKEY, 5. Tom HANNIGAN, 6. Jake MOULT, 7. Dan MOONEY, 8. Sean WILLIAMS, 9. Josh HANCOCK, 10. Matty KOSYLO, 11. Ryan COLCLOUGH. Subs: 12. Tom PEERS, 14. Alex BROWN, 15. Fisayo ADARABIOYO

David Fitzpatrick:

Total guesswork on my part but could this be the Alex Brown who was a substitute today? Reportedly, he was out of favour at King's Lynn, so he may now have left them:

That's Alex Brown. Having previously been at Buxton, it may be that he's based up here, and didn't fancy the new full-time model at Kings Lynn. At least, unlike most of the trialists, he's the right side of 30.

He works at the Billy sharp academy in Sheffield, I believe.

PS. Sadly, only trialist striker seems to have been Fisayo.

Both left backs on the face of it seem well worth a look; one notched up plenty of appearances in League Two last season and the other is a recent England C international with age on his side. Hope they impressed?

Surprised to see Kirby over at West Dids; I assumed he might have been with the 'A' team.

A fully fit Mooney can still be a good asset for us; I hope he has a much more injury-free season.

Is it quite telling that he's opted for Kosylo in No10 and Hancock up front, or is it too early to speculate?

Any thoughts from those that went to the game?

Went to Ashton today and was a good workout, although ashton were poor in my opinion.

For me Colclough, Kosylo and Hannigan impressed, thought both LB trialists were impressive for different reasons. Fis came on and I thought looked lively, he hit the bar and got in good positions for the limited time he was on. Josh was workmanlike but he's no No 9 in my opinion.

Onto Tuesday now.

Is there squad list anywhere for the team at chorlton?

Taken from John Laidlar's website:

ALTRINCHAM 1. Matt GOULD, 2. Phil PARRY, 3. Junior BROWN, 4. Kennedy DIGIE, 5. Ritchie SUTTON (c), 6. Jordan LUSSEY, 7. Brad JACKSON, 8. Connor KIRBY, 9. Marcus DINANGA, 10. Ben PRINGLE, 11. A-J LEITCH-SMITH. Subs: Harlan RYAN-MORGAN, Liam EVANS, Yusuf ADENIYI, James BERRY, Ryan MORELAND, Liam BLACKBURN (gk)

Junior Brown:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junior_Brown_(footballer)

Jordan Lussey:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_Lussey

Ben Pringle:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Pringle

A-J Leitch-Smith:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-Jay_Leitch-Smith

Now what ever happened to the chap that was substituted!!!???

"Lussey made his debut for the England national under-18 team on 16 November 2011 as a half-time substitute for Max Clayton in a 1–1 away draw with Slovakia."

Unusual, compared to previous seasons, that our triallists are of a certain age (bar 1). Parkie looking for more experience?
And 2 of them left backs: what of White and Hampson, who I thought had a good season last time out?

Could Mooney, with his speed to get into spaces and aptitude for running at defenders, be a possible for the No9 role? Just a left field thought!

Oh! And happy New Season everyone!

Only went to the West game. It was what it was, a team heavy on trialists having their first game back vs an organised NWC outfit that sat in. Dinanga was really isolated. Ben Pringle, while looking quite classy in the 10 role, dropped so deep in the second half he was receiving the ball from the keeper at times.

The left back, Junior Brown, impressed the most for me. I’d like to see him, Pringle and Lussey again.

I went to Ashton and thought it was a comfortable enough performance but nothing special.  It seemed a little scrappy at times and I got the feeling that Alty were capable of much better.  Another missed penalty and several gilt edged chances allowed to go begging.  Colclough was the stand out player for me.

Thought the set up was good at WD&C certainly a better opening game than travelling to Abbey Hay or Ashton.

Marcus looked like a striker but I just hope we don't spent 90 minutes every Saturday lumping to him. Like Reeves, he could definitely get in behind if the balls are right.

If he's only being challenged for the number nine spot by Fisayo and Tom, then he should get plenty of game time to bed himself in and impress. I really hope so. The other forwards are capable of supplying plenty of ammunition.
Must admit that I was hoping for a goal scoring trialist but, as others have said, there's still time for that.

I thought Ben Pringle looked a cut above and I’d be signing him without doubt. He’ll look even better around a better quality of player too. Pringle as the no.10 with Colclough and Kosylo either side would be a decent attaching 3 behind a main striker.
