3 players gone
« on: May 10, 2009, 02:01:18 PM »

From main site. GH has released 3 players;

1. Lane
Thought he had done well, maybe we have a bit more defensive cover, although lane played well all over the back line.

2. (Super) Joe O'Neill
Height and strength the best thing about joe, although never looked liked scoring many. With Denham, little, senior and Johnson, probably have enough cover upfront.

3. Warren Peyton
Commitment was always there, but never really looked "conference premier" player. Probably best remembered for building the snack bar and turnstiles.

Shame to see all three leave. Dedicated players the lot. All the best to them.

Don't envy Graham's job having to make these sort of decisions.

Lane would always be in my starting eleven. Peyton and O'Neill were probably not quite good enough but ok for cover.

Surprised to see Lane go, but that could be good news on the Densmore & Welch front (not to mention the other centre halves).

I think the other two are now maybe not quite up to the level, tho wasn't Joe at uni? Might be going onto another career.
I hope Warren will still be able to do some brickie work when needed!

Good luck to them all

really shocked about laney, one of my favourite players in the squad.....wish him all the best for the future.

as for joe and warren, they both receaved there fair share of slagging off for not being good enough for this level but no one can ever doubt that they both gave 110% every time they donned the red and white. good luck to the both of them, they did have some great moments.....wazza's free kick against cambridge - correctly called by daycare "payton back of the net..." (as he lined up the shot). and well joe....V*cs away !!! TWICE !!! and his two against ru$hden....

GOOD LUCK TO THEM

Super Joe - Although didn't score loads, he scored some very memorable and crucially important goals, and was a genuinely nice guy.

All three played for the shirt and I'm sorry to see them go - all the best to them for the future.

However, I do think that it is only right that GH and the managment are not too sentimental and sometimes ruthless decisions like this are a neccessity. Hopefully we have got some top new signings lined up to replace them.

'He's big, he's scouse
He's left the Alty house
Chris Lane'

Gutted to see Laney go, half expected it with Peyton and O'Neill.  Good luck to all three, all wore the shirt with pride and gave 100%.

3 absolutely top lads who gave their absolute best every time they pulled on an Alty shirt. Sad that they're leaving but again we have to move on. Wish them all the very best for the future.

Agreed. All top lads who gave their all.

I think Laney was the most likely to get a place in the side, but when everyone is fit even he isn't worth a place in the starting XI.

Good luck to them all in their future careers.

Agreed.  If we want to make progress, however small, then we have to improve the quailty of the fringe players.

There will be a hell of a lot of ex league players who do not get fixed up in the summer and have to do a real world reailty check.
