every one will be piling into big haired mikes gaff for the away leg then, i don't think he would mind if i extend the offer to anyone wearing an alty shirt.

Went south of the river to watch the match tonight. Veterans of the morgue that is the International Stadium will be shocked to learn of an attendance of 4,200. The main stand was full of the Heed Army (and me), with an overflow to the seats by the scoreboard!! Telford looked to have brought about 1,500 or so as they occupied the uncovered seating area on the opposite side and it looked about a half full. 

Clear that both sides would need to bring in quite a few players to compete in the Premier, but the word is that the Heeds budget is currently about £8k a week and their Chairman, who used to be on Sunderland's board, has deep pockets. That said he wants to see Gateshead in the FL and moved to a proper ground in the near future, so that'll probably mean a crash and burn for a season or two then back to the Northern League for derbies with Jarrow Roofing and West Allotment Celtic.

Either way, you can bet the away game will be on a Tuesday night.

Very pleased with that. I went to Newcastle Poly in the 80's and now I have a valid reason to return. A Newcastle weekender looks like its on the cards. I just need to ring my Geordie mate and sort things. When are the fixtures out?

It has to be said back in the days of the 1990s and our regular Conference clashes, this fixture was without fail played on a Tuesday night which I fear will disrupt a few weekender plans.

Might need to sort out these A level things now because an alty weekender in Newcastle sounds a lot more fun that a tuesday night out in mansfield.
