If he was that good surely one of the front runners would have taken a punt on him to bolster their promotion hopes?

I thought he was under-used at times but we've done well without him of late. On reflection I'd have been more disappointed to lose a younger player like Dale or Chris Senior, players who have a good few years ahead of them in their careers.

Was disappointed when I first heard the news of his departure this afternoon. However, I strongly suspect the move to Northwich was all but done before he left and we don't want parasites who behave like that at our club anyway. I suppose that's part of the chance you take when you sign a "name", but I'd rather he left now than sat in the stand waiting for his contract to expire.

At the end of the day, it's a big chunk taken off our wage bill without sacrificing any first team regulars so I think I'll sleep quite easily tonight.

I despise both of them equally.

I remember when I went through a spell of buying one sausage at the Robins' retreat for every goal we scored. And then one day I found they weren't open after matche any more...

What has that got to do with anything?

it did feel like I was on my own at that game

You're always "on your own", in a manner of speaking.

Carlisle United and Doncaster Rovers are living proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel. One could argue that being in the Conference was the catalyst for their respective successes since.

A ground share with a club on the South Coast is a good shout. The manager and players would feel right at home.

It just defeats me how anyone on their board thought this arrangement was going to work. I mean that in the nicest possible way, all rivalry aside, it's just one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard of.

Is a ground share with Witton an option? I suppose with Runcorn already playing there it probably isn't?

They still get crowds regularly in excess of 4,000 though, so people clearly are prepared to pay the asking price. I would say they are pretty much down to their hardcore support so I see no reason why they would suddenly drop their prices.

On the subject of pricing, I liked the pricing policy at Hereford when they charged people less if the team was outside the top ten (or something very similar). This was certainly the case on our last visit to Edgar Street in 2005.

He has ruined their club

Agreed. However, the people who are running the show now aren't doing much better. They should never have gone full time when they did and nor should they have employed a manager whose knowledge of non league football outside Sussex seems more than a little sketchy. We've already lost an old adversary in Runcorn and sadly it appears as though Vics are heading down the same route.

Terrible.

Whether it was a protest or not (and I still believe it wasn't) is largely irrelevant. The point is it didn't need bringing up again over 6 years later.

I was at that game it was stunned silence, from me not because we were out of the cup but because I had a lot of respect for Bernard and felt sorry for him.

Totaly agree with this mate but couldn't find the right way to word it earlier. It most certainly was not a protest.

It will be interesting to see why it is 5 points instead of 11.

Because they're a big club.

If that was us or another club of similar stature we'd have been docked the full 11 points, no question. It's absolutely scandalous!

I don't think we are talking about the same Burscough game!

I'd already arrived at the same conclusion.  :D

However, I do also recall the woeful performance to which you referred.

5 point deduction and a £500 fine.

Where is the consistency? This league is an absolute joke!
