Conference Turned Down BBC TV Deal
It has been revealed that the Football Conference turned down an approach from the BBC to screen highlights last season.
After the collapse of Setanta Sports in the summer of 2009, the league found themselves without a TV contract and it has now been revealed that an approach by the BBC was turned down.
The deal would have seen highlights and goals on the BBC Sport website and on TV but on last night's Non-League Show, sports rights analyst Ryan McKnight revealed that a potential TV deal had collapsed.
He said that the deal collapsed because the league thought they could get a better deal elsewhere ''They missed their chance with the BBC, that was the golden opportunity.'' he said.
''At the time the Conference thought they could get something better.''
It is widely expected that the Conference are about to sign a TV deal with Premier Sports which will see 30 games screened on their £6.99-a-month channel.
